A 400 horsepower screamer custom 1974 Chevrolet Corvette is already what dreams are made of. So when it also comes with an extra bold exterior, a stylish custom interior, and all at an exceptional price... well, this one might not be here long enough to read all the details. We won't bother pretending this is like any classic C3 Stingray you've ever seen before. Sure, a high gloss black is the perfect hue to slip through the midnight, but this car doesn't go anywhere undetected. The body adapts the sleek bumpers from the final evolution of the C3, and then adds in a ground effects kit from Eckler's Corvette. With the low front air dam, more aggressive rocker panes, and larger rear spoiler, this Corvette looks like it's looking for trouble. Plus, we all love the red pinstriping that helps emphasize the extra long fender lines of this model. And because that bold air grabber on top is shining so nicely (we'll get to what's under it in a moment) other pieces are polished to be just as bright. The window frame, including T-top edge, as well as the cast aluminum wheels have a mirror-like quality that reminds us that this brute also has class.Inside this stylishly aggressive theme continues. Chevrolet did not offer a two-tone interior for the '74 Stingray, but this one has been customized to utilize the exterior accent color with the bold black. The result is a uniform appearance that will make you love to take the T-tops off and show the world. There are some nice comforts like an upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo, power windows, and the folding leather seats from later C3s. But one look at the gleaming 4 speed shifter in the center console, and you instantly know this is a pure driver's car. You slip behind the three-spoke Corvette steering wheel. Ahead of that is the large dual pod gauges, including the tach. Just to the side is a full set of auxiliary readouts for a true sports car experience. You might want to grab your sunglasses before opening the hood, because that butterfly air grabber is far from the only polished component. The valve covers, brackets, alternator, intake, water pump, master cylinder, and so much more are also so bright that we know you'll instantly attract a crowd. But beyond the style is some serious substance. The Chevy small block is one of the most adaptable motors out there. So this one starts with a Jasper 350 crate motor, and to that is added Holley 650 CFM four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer intake, and headers that feed the rumbling Flowmaster 40 Series dual exhaust. The total package makes around 400 hp, and you have complete control over the soundtrack and the fury of this enhanced V8 thanks to the fairly rare (for the year) four-speed manual transmission. It even stays cool under pressure with an aluminum radiator w/electric fan. But more than just a pure power package, the Stingray was one of the best all-around sports cars of its era with power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and a fully independent sports suspension. This is a bold standout classic that is exceptionally priced.
