1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Landau Additional Info:
An original 42 year old Monte Carlo. One (1) original owner - Me! Garage kept since new.
Exterior showing very minor surface patina on the hood, upper fenders & roof. No rust holes on any body panels. Has a sound, solid frame.
Headliner showing some wear; leather seats and vinyl door panels and trim are in great original condition, original carpet was replaced. (42 year ago I was in my twenties, and I worked with a carpet dealer. We were both chemists and he did carpeting as a side job. So we put in shag carpeting thatwas multi-colored cream/bronze/green/black. Personally I thought it looked great, but hey I am a woman! That shag carpet has been removed and original color carpeting was installed in 2016 by a professional Auto Shop.
The leather seats are swivel (manual) and both swivel out towards entry way. Quite convenient for getting in and out!
The engine needs a good cleaning but in excellent shape. Brand new Interstate battery. Just had an oil change, new oil filter, coil, air filter and fuel filter just done.
Front end just greased, brakes checked and are great. Rotors might need turning. Dwell and Timing set. Tires are great. They are Michelin P215 70 R15 All Season. These tires have less than 3,000 miles tread wear! There is No Spare Tire.
The leather seats have a tiny bit of wear. (See photos). And the top closure on the center storage compartment has broken hinges. They are plastic, but it still fits in place perfectly.
The wheels are Mag wheels and come with the exclusive wire rims. Currently there is some minor rust on the rims, but it will probably be removed this week or early next.
Old Car Price Guide Report ranges from (parts car) $800 to (show car) $20,000. In current condition, car appears to be about a 5. Average value 4,000 -5,000.
THE MORAL OF THE STORY: I babied this car and it has never been driven in the winter. I had the luxury of having a beater that I could drive around in the winter months. Folks used to tease me that I had more water on the vehicle than miles. I think I washed it twice a week (whether I had driven it or not!) It had original Z-Bart under coating and every year (for about 4-5) I took the car back to the company and beseeched the managers to retouch the underbody. So a pretty nice layer built up. My husband and I moved to the Finger Lakes in NY where the roads were tarred and graveled. So I pretty much haven't driven it in the last 30 years except to start it up and do some checks on it. Now I can't see the ends of the fenders! This car is a real car with REAL doors that you feel are heavy when you close them. I am looking for someone who would give this car the TLC that I did.
