1971 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 1500 Custom Additional Info:
Up for auction is a 1971 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup. Truck was originally used as a tree service truck in Nebraska when bought new. The facory color is medium olive with black interior. Has the truck 350 engine with the sm465 4 speed and new process 205 transfer case. Engine still has the quadrajet carb, but has been updated to HEI ignition and is otherwise stock. Truck starts and runs good, but could use a new choke thermostat. 4 speed shifts nice and the clutch is smooth. 4 wheel drive works as it should with lockout hubs. Still has the 3.08 gears in it so it goes down the road nice at 70 mph with the 31x10.5 tires. All the lights and gauges work as they should. Truck had saddle tanks installed years ago under the boxsides. I have never see the spare tanks and would assume that they would need to be cleaned out. I have replaced many parts on the truck to include: windshield, master cylinder, front shocks, heater blower fan, battery cable, and belts. The transfer case and reared were just serviced with a new output seal installed on the transfer case. The front drive shaft was rebuilt with new u-joints. Battery is about a year old and the tires are about 1/2 tread. Truck is a very early 1971 with a build date of 8-70. Truck has factory power disk brakes and power steering. With the recent repairs there are no leaks, but the power steering gear box does seep a little. As far as the body goes it has normal 67-72 Chevy rust on the floors, cab corners, and rockers. The rest of the truck is very solid with only surface rust on the doors, fenders, and boxsides. The truck appears to of had a topper on it at one time which would explain the straight and rust free bed floor. The tailgate is also rust free, but does have a good dent on the top rail. The interior is fair with a decent dash pad, but the seat could stand to re covered. The factory 71-72 Chevy 4x4's are getting harder to find and most were automatics. The 4 speed makes it a really nice truck to drive. Would be a good truck for daily driver or good candidate to restore. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the truck is for sale locally.
