You are bidding on a 1988 Chevrolet R30, 1-ton Dump rack body truck. This is a 2 wheel drive truck. The truck is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition and has 41,000 original miles. For those who are not familiar with the R30, this is a model that was produced only in 1988 and 1989. It is essentially similar to the previous C30 model but instead of carbureted engine, it is fuel injected. I have owned the truck for approximately 2 years while building a house. I did not use the truck commercially.
The truck is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. I believe that I am the third owner. When I purchased the truck, I was told the following. ‘The truck was originally owned by a landscaper who passed away. The truck sat for 9 years in a garage’. The owner, who I purchased it from, indicated that he replaced the engine and clutch with a rebuilt unit. Though I cannot absolutely verify his story, I can say that the engine block is not original. It has a 350 cu-in engine with a 4-speed transmission. It runs excellent, does not have any leaks and does not burn any oil. The clutch is very strong and releases near the floor. Since I purchased it, I had a complete brake job completed. The emergency brake cable was also replaced. I also replaced 6 tires less than 600 miles ago. Front shocks were replaced. It has a new battery and new battery cables.
Cosmetically, there is NO structural rot on the truck. The frame on the truck is rot free and in excellent condition. Areas prone to rust on these trucks are all rust free. Including the cab mounts, cab corners, lower doors, door sills, floors are all rust free and bondo free. (see photos. Note. The tan color on the frame and hoist mechanism is sand only and not paint damage or rust.) The only areas that have rusted were the brackets for the metal mud flaps and two holes in the inner front fender liners (common area on these trucks).
The dump bed hoist is manufactured by Chelsea, is PTO operated and is VERY strong. The system does not leak and operates as it should. The rack body is a stacked ladder frame style. It is made of very heavy gage C channel and Angle Iron. (The bed is manufactured by Peabody/Galion) The bed floor is pressure treated and is in very good condition. As you can see, there is plywood on the side of the racks. The tailgate is hinged on the bottom and functions as it should. I have all owners manuals for the Galion bed, Chelsea PTO system and the truck itself.
The only issue that I know if with the truck is the horn doesn’t work and the “body raised” switch for the dump bed does not work. The paint is in very good to excellent condition and shines well. The hood shows some signs of white oxidation but might be compounded out. Exhaust system was replaced by the previous owner and does not have any rust.
The truck is registered as an classic vehicle plate in Connecticut. This is an economical way to register the truck, especially for homeowner use.
Overall, the truck is in excellent condition and is extremely reliable. It really needs NOTHING andwill provide years of trouble free service.
The truck is sold as-is with no expressed or implied warranty. There are NO returns. I am fully confident that you will be pleased with the trucks looks and performance. I have done my best to describe the condition. Please look at the pictures. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks for looking.
