An affordable, cool-cruisin' 1964 Chevrolet Impala sedan always seems like a great idea. But when it has been given all the right investment in paint, powder coating, rebuilding the original small block V8, and subtly upgrading the interior, well then you realize something this desirable is rarely within budget. This is a very desirable generation for the full-sized Impala. Chevy revamped the third-gen styling to have a more commanding presence on the streets. It only gets better on this maroon sedan thanks to a professional paint application in 2014 that gave the sophisticated color a nice clearcoat shine. And the white roof makes for a particularly nice two-tone. In the rear, Chevy signified the styling direction of the 60s by eliminating the tailfin, and it looks great framed by the same white paint as the roof. Plus, the top-of-the-line Impala received the iconic six taillight arrangement that was a standout on these cars. And of course in the '60 chrome was king, and so you get mirror-like bumpers, a full-width shiny grille, and an upgrade to all-chrome Rally wheels. But the brightwork we think you'll enjoy the most is the dual strip running the length of the car. Not only does it loop around in a cool design, but also the inner white strip matches the rest of the two-tone for a terrific total package appearance.Inside is a more 1960s style but will a modern freshness that tells you the correct investments were made during restoration. The cream-colored vinyl is joined by the right earthtone inserts on the seats to give this a very cool representation of a premium '64 Impala. And of course, it wouldn't feel correct without plenty of brightwork on panels, wheel insert, and dash. The full-size sedan means there's plenty of room to carry up to five family and friends with you, and the interior has all the right elements to keep everyone comfortable. This includes modern AM/FM radio disguised as a period-correct knob-style unit and provisions for modern R134a air conditioning. So, this Impala is nearly as comfortable as a Chevy you can get out of the new car showroom today.Just like the rest of this classic, the motor is authentic, but hides a nice upgrade. The 327 cubic-inch V8 is now an icon in the small block Chevy circles, and that legend began in this generation Impala. So it's especially cool to have the original numbers-matching "Turbo-Fire" powerplant in this sedan. It even still carries the correct Rochester four-barrel carburetor. But more than just prestige it's a strong running thanks to a complete rebuild around 800 miles ago. The V8 is mated to a period-correct Powerglide automatic transmission that was rebuilt around the same time as the motor, and it's finished off with a throaty dual exhaust. This sound can be enjoyed for as long as you want because this Impala is configured to be a cruising machine. And features like the power steering and front disc brakes only heighten this easy feeling. You can look over every inch of this sedan, but we suggest you also pay close attention to the undercarriage. The level of care and the power coating to the body are telltale signs of a quality restoration (we also have the receipts to prove it, too.)
