Up for auction isthis 1971 Chevy 3/4 ton Suburban. I am listing this for the family of a friend that passed away. He bought the truck in 2012from a local body shop here in MN, primarily to pull his drag car to and from the drag strips in the area. I rode and drove the suburban a few times,and I know a little bit about it and will describe it to the best of my knowledge. The truck came from California, bought by a local shop and converted to what you see in the pictures. The shop installed an interior out of a later model suburban, including the roof mount air unit. I have been told the blower works but didn't blow real cold. The truck is not equipped with factory air, just the add on roof air. Overall the interior is nice, the gauges work, and it has an aftermarket stereo. The exterior is painted black, and the owner had it rustproofed to protect the California body. The tires are in good condition and mounted on aluminum rims. The 400 big block engine starts and runs well, and was probably overhauled at some time, but there is no proof of that, other than the overall cleanliness of it. The turbo 400 trans shifts fine. The rig had no problems pulling a drag car and trailer a freeway speeds. It has a Dana 60 rear of unknown ratio. It has a full exhaust system with headers. It is wired for electric trailer brakes. There are some body issues as you can see from the pictures. The truck was hit in the drivers side quarter panel by a drunk driver when sitting on the street. Also there are paint issues on the passenger door as well as the 3rd door. The passenger door handle is broken too. The tailgate and rear window operate fine and are unaffected by the quarter damage. The vehicle is located in Minneapolis MN. The buyer will be responsible for delivery of the vehicle. The seller could deliver it within 150mi of Minneapolis for gas money.
