1985 Chevrolet Blazer Base Additional Info:
I have owned this truck for 5 years. I no longer have the time or finances to make it what I want so it has to go. It was purchased from surplus out in Nevada and the odometer read around 48,000. I have put on about 15,000 miles since then. I have been all through it trying to make it bulletproof. I have used the highest quality parts available, not the economy versions. I swapped wiring so modern components could be used which are easier to find and less expensive than some of the CUCV counterparts. Mechanically the truck runs great. Smokes a little on startup depending on the temperature but clears within a few minutes. When below freezing it does help to run the glow plugs two times or more or use the block heater. I located a spare surplus motor that is included. It was going to be my turbo project, just never got around to it.
The biggest issues I see with the truck are cosmetic. Driver's door, tailgate, and topper have issues and the rocker panel on the driver's side is rusting. The door will stick and sometimes you have open it from the outside to get out. The drivers window needs pulled on to go up. Pretty sure the channels are just out of alignment. Vent window leaks and is having issues with the locking mechanism. There is also rust forming on the base of the door and it is dented on the outside. Topper leaks from on top somewhere and from around the windows when you go through the car wash. Tailgate is hard to pull down and rusty at the bottom. Most of the time when you use the power window it sticks about half way and you have to push or pull the window to get it unstuck. A different door, topper, and tailgate would fix these. Passenger fender is showing some rust as well. Most of the front body panels need realigned. I had to remove the driver's fender, hood, and core support to fix a crack in the frame with the weld in repair kit from ORD. One of those things I just never got around to fixing. Both door panels were repainted. The driver side is chipped in a few places and could use a touch up and then hit with a clear coat to seal it up. This truck was rewired from front to back with civi truck harnesses. There are no blackout lights on this truck and only one alternator. This way I was able to have some creature comforts like a stereo and interior cab lighting without hacking the original to bits and having a wiring diagram to follow if something went wrong. The engine harness was cut in half when I pulled it from the donor truck. I soldered the broken splices, wrapped with electrical, and finally friction tape. Haven't had a problem with it. The harness does have the connections for a throttle position sensor if a 700R4 is added. I do have the electrical harness and dipstick tube from one included as well.I also converted to a serpentine system off of 96+ 6.5 diesels so I could use an upgraged water pump and fan. Serpentine belt is also much easier to replace and no belt squeal. There is a severe duty fan clutch attached to a fan from a duramax. The Duramx fan is overkill so I'm including a steel fan from a 6.5 that will let the engine warm up faster in winter.
Oil is changed regularly. Sometimes the radio will not function but if you smack the bottom of the dash it comes back. Mostly highway miles. Front tires are a little more worn than the rears as I had to replace them due to an alignment issue that wore the others down. About 50% tread in the front, 70% in the rear. Fuel filter replaced when the electric fuel pump was added about 5,000 miles ago. Mileage will change as this is my only vehicle right now.
I will work with you on getting the truck shipped if need be. It will take me a couple days to get everything packed and loaded in the truck. If you have any questions, please ask and please make an offer. Thanks!
