1979 Chevrolet Malibu Additional Info:
I have owned about a dozen of these cars over the years, they hold a special place as my first car was a Malibu. I have owned this one for about 7 years and have decided that I will never get to this one so its time to let it go. I have never seen another Malibu with these options, sure you see stick cars every so often, but most are base model v6 3 speeds and with ac delete. This is a factory triple black car, buckets, ac, pw, pl, tilt, cruise, rear defrost, 8 track stereo with a power antennae. I believe the only thing this car is missing is the moonroof option. When I purchased this car I ordered the full report from the GM Heritage Center. There was a total of 60,750 Coupes produced, with 16,042 being black, 4,906 having a vinyl top and 1,903 having a manual transmission. They also sent a copy of the build sheet, this car was delivered to Bradley Chev in Broken Arrow Ok. I looked above the headliner, behind the seat and above the gas tank and didn't locate the original. This car will need a full restoration as there is rust in the rockers, floor, the passenger quarter has rust along the quarter window seal and some pitting where the paint flaked, and the rear frame has some rust, bumper mount is solid. This car is very deserving of being brought back and if I were to do it would get the above sheet metal plus both doors, the seams are rusty and the driver look if dented below the mirror. Car has been off the road for quite some time, but yard drives, rad has a leak, brakes work but wouldn't trust to drive(still has alum drums). I believe everything on the car is factory with the exception of the alt. The car sat in grey primer for quite awhile before I bought it and I put a coat of rustoleum to protect it. It is missing the lower rear quarter and b pillar trim pieces, I have the uppers. I have this listed locally so auction could end early, if interested call Jason at 515-321-8698.
