1981 Chevrolet El Camino Additional Info:
you arebidding(PLEASE NOTE INVESTED UPDATES, THE LATEST BEING 10/20/16ON BOTTOM)on a 1981 el camino, color silver-gray, and black, at, 6 cylinder, 3.8 engine(not a 305)with either 189,000, or 89,000 miles on it(title says 189,000- but previous owner stated that registry just assumed it was 189,000). i have had it for almost 4 yrs, and have put about 36k miles on it. i did drive it through the winters(had snow tires on it-included), and mostly purchased it to drag around my junky lawn mowers. the previous owner was meticulous with the upkeep, and wouldn't be happy with me, knowing i drove it through the winters. nevertheless, i also was meticulous with its upkeep(have all the receipts), including brake work, exhaust, tuneups, carburetor work, plugs, wires, water pump, wheel bearings, minor transmission work, distributor cap, brake drums, shoes, oil changes every 3000 miles(with synthetic oil), and most recently more exhaust work, and finally, had the frame rails replaced. the car is solid, the bed is very solid(has a great canvas snap-on cover, with 2 wooden supports-2 or 3 of the snap on buttons have broke, i have them), with virtually no rust, the lift gate is solid(i can stand on it no problem). the heat works fine, everything electrical, except the inside lights(which i disconnected) works, the radio is the factory am-fm unit(i think one of the speakers is blown). there is some body rust on the rear passenger side quarter panel, and some bondo and sheet metal work also on both rear quarter panels. the chrome bumpers are excellent(very, very small dent on rear passenger side bumper), and the sticker is good until 1/15. it has been driven to boston, RI, NY, CT, and once warmed up, will start up no problem. since the car is over 35 yrs old, it should be warmed up for a good 5-10 min. before traveling. the 1st gear(car is automatic), runs a bit rough, but i usually drive it like an old man anyways. it accelerates fine. it does blow some blue smoke(THIS HAS BEEN GREATLY DIMINISHED DUE TONEW PLUGS, AND CARBURETOR ADJUSTED)when 1st started(gaskets need replacing?), but dissipates once it is warmed up. there are power brakes and steering, but everything else is manual. the interior is excellent, with no rips or tears. it is a bench seat. the ac belt was taken out, when some hoses and belts were replaced, but can be put back in(i've included one). the rest of the body has minor scratches, but still looks awesome. i am selling it because my most recent junky lawn mower is fairly decent, and i also got tired of no ac, no power windows, and crap stereo. it feaures 15" rally wheels, and is fair on gas, maybe 15-18 miles per gallon on the highway. i usually put the best quality gas in, since it seemed to make a difference(that was advised for a car this old, usually it doesn't make a difference, but in this case, it is noticeable, i think. there are no leaks that i know of(although i keep an eye on the power steering pump-THIS HAS BEEN FIXED BY STEERING BOX WORK-10/20/16). i am asking $3899 as an opening bid. i'm sure i could think of more, i received tons of compliments with this car. NOTE! THE LAST PICTURE IS THE UPDATED CONDITION OF HOOD, DUE TO THE CLEARCOAT PEELING! PLEASE, FEEL FREE TO PREVIEW THE CAR BEFOREHAND, IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE INBIDDING! 2ND NOTE! I WILL BE PUTTING 4 NEW USED TIRES ON THIS CAR, BEING THE THE CURRENT TIRES ARE TERRIBLE. 3RD NOTE10/20/16-I SPENT OVER $400 FOR 4 EXCELLENT USED TIRES, THE STEERING BOX FIXED, AND THE CARBURETUR ADJUSTED. THE CAR NOW RUNS AWESOME! 10/21/16 update-engine light stays on due to the fact that the plug that connects the carburetor to the computer has been disconnected-THE CAR RUNS MUCH BETTER THIS WAY.
