1965 Chevrolet Corvair 500 Additional Info:
Project Parts Car ! ! Rebuilt 1965 180 HP Turbocharged engine. Heads, Turbo Unit and Carter Carburetor professionally rebuilt. Engine was re-assembled with cylinders honed, pistons fitted with new rings and new rod bearings all torqued to spec. The engine is assembled to a good differential and four speed manual transmission with new clutch plate, pilot bushing and throw-out bearing. A good pressure plate and bolted flywheel completes the drive train. The drive train is mounted in a 1965 500 coupe that allowed us to start and tune the engine. The engine ran well and is in need of a proper muffler. The car cannot be driven and must be winched onto a transport truck or trailer. It may also be towed using a car dolly. We started restoring the car but other circumstances have changed our priorities. The front end of the car has been re-worked with new inner and outer stabilizer bushings, shocks, wheel bearings and brake lines as needed. a reconditioned gas tank has been installed. All glass is good except a new windshield is needed. The non undercoated areas of the chassis and floors have been primed and finished with rust resistant paint. Seats need re-upholstery and the interior panels have been cleaned and painted. Drive train can be removed from car.
