1988 Chevrolet Corvette Additional Info:
Up for sale is a great project vehicle it is a 1988 Callaway Corvette twin turbo car #34 for 1988. I bought this vehicle just over ten years ago and didn't do my homework! The car was on the east coast and I had seen several pictures of it that looked good and the price at the time seemed good. Car fax was new at the time so I didn't use it and the vehicle did not have a salvage title. Upon arrival to purchase the car I noticed it was in need to a paint job, engine detail, and some interior detailing to bring it up to my standards. I bought it any way not a great decision and brought it home. I drove it around to make sure everything worked right and proceeded to strip it down and clean/ detail everything to show car standards. I ordered a duplicated window sticker from the National Corvette Museum and then found out the interior color had been changed from tan to red. With this knowledge I did more research that showed the vehicle was wrecked and salvaged and someone "laundered" the title so it now is clear. I worked on the corvette for awhile had the wheels powder coated and added new Goodyear tires. The original callaway radiator was professionally rebuilt and resprayed, the turbo inter coolers were polished and fins straightened and various other parts were detailed. The interior was stripped to return it to tan and a brand new correct carpet kit from Mid American Corvette is partially installed. I have purchased another Callaway with low miles and have no desire to sink any more money into this vehicle my loss your gain. The Corvette needs the following for sure new paint, front and rear bumper and lower panels, and seat cushions. The other parts from the car are in storage and will be available at pick up. If you have mechanical ability this should be a great chance to have a rare car for cheap. If you have never restored a car be aware this is a size able project. The wheels that are included are Dymag for a Corvette challenge race car and are identical to the Callaway specific Dymag except they don't say "Callaway" on them. The wheels alone are worth quite a bit of money. The last picture is poor quality but shows the car before it was stripped down it had the Callaway aerobody that is NOT included with this sale. Please email with any questions. I believe all parts that I didn't list above are included but it is your responsibility to inspect and determine for yourself. The vehicle is offered as is and I reserve the right to end the auction if it sells locally. Thanks
P.S.eBay decided they didn't like the way I listed the title so they ended the auction without consulting me. The title was listed as clear which it is l attached a photo of it. My description is and was very clear that it is a salvage vehicle which I found out the hard way. During the first listing I had numerous questions from folks concerned that all the mechanical parts are not with the car. This is not case the body parts listed above that are not available are due to removal of the Callaway Aerobody. The Aerobody is being used on a different Callaway and is not available it is not original to the car for sale it was added in 2001. I have added a picture of some of the parts that were removed then cleaned and detailed. This picture does NOT represent the only parts for the car just to show the general condition of the parts. The vehicle was fully running when disassembled and all those parts minus the ones mentioned in the description above are included. Please understand that as careful as I have been in cleaning and storing the parts some minor pieces may be missing but that should be the execption not the rule.
