1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Additional Info:
True documented rare SS ordered from factory with 396 engine, -speed Muncie floor shift and bench seat. Ordered June 1969 and delivered to the owner on August 2, 969 by Bill Turner Chevrolet in Forest City, C. The car was orderedby one ofmy high school classmates and has had three owners, one more than 30 miles from the dealership. Please read the complete description below of the 18-month total frame-off restoration by a professional with over 40 years experience. I have the original protecto-plate, uild sheet and owners manual. The speedometer shows 63000 miles. I have talked to the pastowners of the car and they feel the mileage is correct, owever since I can't verify it through paperwork, he car is being sold with mileage unknown. Approximately 500 miles on the car since restoration.
Engine:The 396/325HP engine was upgraded to 350HP per Chev specs. It was disassembled, he block was vatted, ecked, nd bored .030 over.Line honed, ew freeze plugs, am bearings, nd reassembled with original crank turned .010., agle SIR I-Beam rods, E pistons, omp high energy 268 Cam, RP bolt kit, ew Milodon oil pump with new oil pan and timing cover. Complete valve job on original heads cut .010. New GM HEI distributor, uel pump and new Quadrajet carburetor and radiator, ressure plate and clutch.
Transmission:Original heavy duty Muncie trans was disassembled, nspected, leaned, ainted and reassembled with new seals.
Rear End:Original 12 bolt, 31 Ratio rear end cleaned, ainted and serviced with new gasket.
Frame:Rust free frame was pressureh washed and painted with POR15 chassis paint. New front brake calipers and pads.Rear drum brakes disassembled, leaned and reassembled with new wheel cylinders and brakes, ew Brake Master Cylinder. A-Frames blasted and powder coated with new ball joints, ushing kit and new tie rods. Newshocks installed and a new stainless steel fuel tank with new fuel sending unit. Original Factory 14" SS wheels were blasted and painted with 4 new TA Radials mounted. New SS wheel centers were installed with new trim rings.
Body:All original rust free floor pans and trunk were pressure washed and painted satin black. The body was media blasted with the only rust around the rear wheel openings. New rear quarter panels and wheel tubs were installed. The body was sealed with epoxy primer, hen 5 coats of correct Lemans Blue metallic (Code 71) Chromabase was applied followed by 5 coats of Urethane Clear. The care was lightly color sanded, uffed and polished to a beautiful, etter than factory new finish. The trunk was cleaned and painted with correct color Zolotone spray. The car has the original Jack and spare SS Wheel. Factory correct trunk mat installed. All new exterior emblems, omplete new grille assembnly, ll new exterior lights and lens assemblies, nd new bumpers matched to a new Magniflo exhaust system with correct chrome extensions.
Interior:Interior was stripped to the bare metal, leaned, ide and bottom sound-proofing installed with new carpet, orrect new pre-assembled SS door panels, eadliner, nd newly recovered seats. A new Dash pad was installed with a new dash Assembly and new correct SS steering wheel. A new Pioneer Stereo system was the only change to the original interior.
A new windshield and rear window were installed. The original tinted side windows were used and have a few small scratches from 45 years, ut nothing that detracts from the overall restoration. (cannot be captured in photos).
The only upgrades to this factory correct vehicle was the upgrade of distributor to an HEL, ew one-wire alternator and Pioneer Stereo system.
This completely documented Chevelle is as nice as you will find anywhere and the reserve is way below the Classic Car, xcellent condition, alue. Bid with confidence.
