1972 Chevrolet Camaro Additional Info:
This 1972 Camaro was bought last year from a friend of mine who purchased the car from the original owner in 1975. They were both military guys and neither got to fully enjoy the car. After a leg injury by the previous owner, the car remained garaged from 1976 until I purchased it last year. He did start it up and take it around the block or to the car wash a few times a year, but never on long trips. We even signed an original yellow paper title from 1975 when switching the ownership over.
It hasn't seen snow since the winter of 1975 and has seen rain once since then. Because the car was garaged like to was, it remains in great shape with almost zero rust on the chassis or body.
The original owner also had it under coated and Zeibarted soon after purchasing and the result has kept the car in fantastic shape. This car has been in Ohio its whole life and you probably will not find an unrestored car with less rust - especially in the Midwest.
Details:
The Camaro is Flame Red (Orange) with tan seats and black dash, console and carpet. It came with the two-barrel 350c.i. V8 and a 4-speed manual transmission. Non-power brakes with front discs and rear drums. It has slate gray standard wheels with beauty rings and wheel caps. It has a 70's or 80's radio in it as well. Odometer is correct at just over 57,000 original miles.
The car is mostly original with some aftermarket parts added by the second owner. The two-barrel and intake were upgraded with a four-barrel carb and Edlebrock intake. It also has headers and two glass packs from the 70s. I have the original carb, intake and manifolds as well.
I have done just a few small things to the car since I've owned it. Installed a front spoiler, new shirt knob, and replaced the rear bumper as the original was dented (also comes with the car). I also had the motor gone over since it wasn't driven much over the past 40 years and had many of the engine seals (rear main, valve covers etc) replaced. The car leaks a few small drops of oil and power steering fluid over time.
There are just a few minor body scuffs and dings, with most being "garage" dings. This consists of some rubbing and dings on the rear wheel fender wells and some short dings in the roof where boxes and things were stored on it. The driver's side "Rally Sport" emblem got caught on a bench during a recent move and broke a few letters off. The dash has a few waves in it but no cracks. All gauges work but the clock doesn't keep good time. Radio is not the best either. Headliner, console and carpet are very nice, but could go for a quick cleaning although they still present nicely. The tires are from the 80s I believe (steel belted) and will need replaced. I have kept them on to retain the "barn find" look to the car but they should be replaced for safety. And finally I would suggest a new throwout bearing eventually as it can occasionally squeak, but still drives fine.
I drive the car to the local cars and coffee meets and into town occasionally but don't enjoy it enough and would love to see it go to someone who will make it there own. It's a blast to drive and I get comments and thumbs-ups everywhere I take it. It's truly a great looking, time capsule of a split-bumper Camaro.
