Up for auction is a great old 1974 G30 Van with tremendous potential. The PA inspection expired only a little over 2 months ago in June. I had hoped to make this old beast into a camper, but since I have no experience restoring cars/vans/trucks I definitely quickly realized it was too much work for a rookie.

The miles are currently a little less than 54,440. When I originally purchased the van April last year the miles were at 52500. I've put around 2000 miles on her since last year. This was originally the maintenance vehicle for a township in Ohio and as I was told it was only driven locally until eventually the township decided to sell it. I hear the employees were distraught!

I put about a $1000 into the van since I have owned it. The biggest expense was almost immediately after I purchased it I had the rear end rebuilt. Apparently the rear differential is one of the biggest problems with these old vans so you can rest assured that it is very recently rebuilt. I have also put in a new battery, the oil was recently changed and other smallerish stuff. I have the records on hand. The brakes are in good working order. The right front outside pad is at about 1/4" and the inside pad around 3/8". The left rear front shoe is at about 1/4" and the rear shoe around 5/16".

Mechanically speaking, it is running. The engine is a little loud and backfiring at times, but after two people looked at it they are confident (one said 100%) that the noise and backfiring is because of the passenger side, exhaust manifold gasket. Apparently a $10 part. That said, I'm making no guarantees here. Lots of videos to look at.

The is also something "not exactly right" with the wiring or switches. The battery will die on occasion after only a few days of it not running. As I mentioned the battery is new. My best guess here is there is an auxiliary box that was set up to run the amber lights on the top of the van, etc (see pics) and I think it is somehow draining the battery even when all the switches appear to be off. Again, a guess.

Cosmetically it needs a lot of work for sure, but hey that is the fun part. I will mention that the floor has some holes, one that is rather large near the front. I have also played with some bondo a bit on the sides. The rear bumper is missing. There has never been a rear bumper on the van since I have owned it.

Lots of extra parts come with the van. Two additional front doors, door and window handles, spare tire, etc. What's shown in the pics and whatever else I can find.

I should also say that although there is some surface rust underneath it is still very structurally strong and not brittle at all.

That's all I got. Just to be very clear this is a project van and in no way should you think this is ready to be a daily driver. Unless you are extremely bold it should be put on a trailer to transport.

I'm sure I'm missing a few things so please feel free to ask any questions. Happy to add additional pictures based on requests.
