Original 1967 Chevy Short Bed with RARE Wood Bed Option
Philly street race sleeper in the 80's
been stored for years...
This 1967 Chevy was Meyers personal racing truck. His son says the engine is suppose to have 500hp. Being built for street racing often times a lot of the goodies were hidden. The trucks were left with a stock appearance and a lot of chrome was left out. Was this truck really 500hp? I doubt it. Is it 400hp??? could be...I've never heard it run. The motor in the truck is a newer rebuilt motor. it is a 350 with a 4 bolt main block. It has center bolt heads.Mr. Meyers had 6 or 7 motors still in his shop fully rebuilt and ready to run. There is 40,000$ inreceipts that came with this truck and the other motors. The problem is I can not tell which receipt goes to which motor entirely. There are multiple receipts for 383 stroker kits and machine work. I cant guarantee this is a 383, but if you were building a few 383's, wouldn't one go into your truck??? This motor will still need some finishing touches that could be completed in a weekend. some wiring and some small miscellaneous and your ready to roll.
The body on the truck looks to be repainted about 30 years ago.its nice enough to finish in a great old patina or a really good start for a repaint.A few of the trim pieces are missing, but the factory chrome bumper option is included. The bed is a factory short bed, wood bed option. This is really RARE!! This was used for farmers hauling livestock. To get a short bed was used to lighten the truck for racing... The front right side of the truck was hit at some point. Since Mr. Meyers is gone now I don't know the details.
The interior looks good.A few gauges will need to be hung and the door handle clips replaced, but all the important stuff is there. The factory push button radio is still waiting to play again.
The truck is located in Elmer, NJ. about 1/2 hour from Philadelphia. I would like it paid for within one week after end of auction and picked up within a month. That seems fair. Mr. Meyers has since passed on so I am unable to answer a lot of questions. I have been working with his wife to help the dispersal of his speed shop. The truck has a clear title signed correctly and ready to go. The title, the glove box door, and the door plate all match. This is the Best year, Best model, with the Best options... If I could afford it, it would stay right here. Good Luck and have a great time in whatever you do.
