Originally advertised as the "only convertible built in America," the Cadillac Eldorado was sold as a legend-to-be and remains one today. Lifelong Cadillac owners lined up to buy the boat sized convertible cruiser and in fact, Cadillac had never built a Cadillac convertible of this size and most likely will never build one again. Cars have since shrunk in size and the idea of rolling down the street in a living-room-equipped vehicle outfitted with a 500 CI motor became a thing of the past. In terms of cruisers, there are not many comparables available today, sans a few Bentley or Rolls-Royce convertibles.
Finished in Firethorn Red over a beautifully preserved Red interior, this 1976 Eldorado has traveled just over 18,000 miles since new. The car is one of the much more rare Fuel Injected optioned models and has been kept in both excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition since new. Have a look underneath and you will find an undercarriage that is very tidy. The paint is in very good condition, and the original chrome and trim show well for it's age.
The interior features the original leather, which unlike many cars from this era has been kept in soft and supple condition. The doors, dash and steering wheel remain crack free and very well preserved. The white top is in excellent condition and also operates properly with a strong motor and good condition frame. Often a weak point on these cars, the window motors are fast and powerful. Open the trunk and you'll find the correct liner and space saver spare. The radio has been updated with a RetroSound unit, although the original is still available, and the dash remains unmodified. The fiber optic turn signal indicators on the dash remain in good working order.
Mechanically, you'll find a strong running car with smooth shifts and a well maintained suspension. The car has just received all new fluids, has cold air, and sports a newer set of white wall tires. The engine compartment is appropriately detailed and remains unmodified with the exception of a new AC compressor.
