Up for auction is a 1961 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible. This is a true California car, I am the 3rd owner and it has spent the duration of its life here in CA. As the fender tag denotes the trim code is 21 which means originally the car had a black interior, it was reupholster in the two-tone. The paint code is 14, which denotes an original color of platinum. The car is white now. It is in need of a full restoration, but you will not find a better start to a project. The body is straight, does not have excessive bondo anywhere, although it does appear to have a thin skin coat applied before the last paint job. There is rust in the driver’s side rocker panel, you can see it in the pictures, it is not rotted out, but it does need to be tended to. There is also rust in the trunk. The trunk is solid though; it hasn’t thinned out and does not appear to need any panels replaced. The upholstery was done by a good shop and has held up well for the age but has popped a seam in the front bench. The seats are comfortable front and back. All the chrome is there and in good useable shape which is extremely rare and can be the hardest thing to find when restoring an old caddy. The car runs well, I drive it around and don’t have any problems with overheating. The breaks were gone through and the slave and master cylinders were replaced. Registration is up to date and it is road worthy. The speedometer, gas gauge, and temp gage all appear to work properly. The brake lights and turn signals work, although the headlights need new bulbs. The windows are all electric and roll up and down without issue. The convertible top is intact, but is getting frail so it needs to be replaced. The motor for the top works and the top goes up and down without issue. The engine is the original 390 and runs strong. The radio and clock are in tact but do not work.
The car has extremely rare vanity plates that read 61CADDY. I own the rights to these plates and they are NOT included in this auction. After buying this the car you will be issued new plates by the DMV. I have a separate listing for the plates and you can buy them if you are interested, just look at my other auctions.
The Cadillac is listed locally and the auction may end early if the car is sold. I encourage you to come see the car for yourself, inspect it and let’s go for a test drive so you can see just how great this car is. Please ask any and all questions before bidding on this car. I am available to take extra pictures and will respond to questions promptly. Do not bid if you are not serious about buying. It seems that every car auction I have there is a bid retraction and I band these bidders. Please only bid if you have the money to buy the car. Please make sure that before you bid you have the space. Before you bid please talk to your wife/girlfriend/significant other/landlord.
The winning bidder will be asked to leave a $500 deposit via PayPal and have the balance of the transaction paid by either cash or money order. If a check is issued it must clear before I will release the car to you.
