1986 Cadillac Fleetwood BROUGHAM Additional Info:

NO RESERVE AUCTION!!!

VERY IMPORTANT. READ LISTING IN ITS ENTIRETY. I KNOW IT'S LONG, BUT WANT TO BE FULLY TRANSPARENT WITH FULL DISCLOSURE.If you’re serious about buying, then you’ll appreciate the details.

With no reserve, it is priced to move quickly in an AS-IS sale.

PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU PLAN TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION. EBAY IS NOT A GAME. AFTER YEARS OF SUCCESS ON EBAY, TOO MANY FAILED AUCTIONS LATELY AS A RESULT OF PEOPLE BIDDING WITH NO INTENTION TO PURCHASE. PLEASE SHOW A LITTLE RESPECT AS IT IS COSTLY FOR SELLERS. PLEASE READ LISTING OF THIS "AS-IS" SALE. THANK YOU.

NOTE: Initial listing may have a low reserve set, simply to gauge interest. Ebay can be hit and miss. If for some unlikely reason, there is no real activity on the listing, it may be removed. Otherwise, as long as there are bids on the car to gauge interest and value, the reserve price will be removed a day or two before the listing ends. So place your bids to convince me that Ebay is the right place to sell this car and that there’s enough interest to gauge its true market value. Bid as if there is no reserve and ignore the notice when it says reserve not met.

Another great vehicle that will likely sell well below wholesale book value. ($12,200 per Hagerty)

I am not a dealer, however, we do have a towing company and therefore come across a lot of Lien Sale vehicles. Most that we get are junkers that we sell at a weekly auction for under $2,000. However, of the cars that come available, we do cherry pick the nicer cars and offer them publicly. If you’ve seen any of my past listings, most go out at very low price points, well below Kelly Blue Book wholesale (trade-in) value. We are more interested in a quick sale than holding out for a few extra dollars.

Here, we have a time capsule in this 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham with an EXTREMELY LOW 67,000 MILES!!

While lien sale cars are rarely perfect, this one isn’t too far off for a 38 year old vehicle.

The body, other than some modest scratches here and there and a couple of small door dings, is straight. Paint does have some fading, but still offers some shine from it’s original metallic paint. I can’t be sure exactly what the intended original color was. In darker light it looks almost black or charcoal grey, but with bright sunlight shining on it, exudes a blues or dark greenish tone. Some of the upward facing areas have a bit more fading than the sides which still have the original metallic sparkle.

Cadillac, famous for their living room like interiors, doesn’t disappoint with this car’s blue couch-like seats. Overall, in pretty good shape with no excess wear, no tears. Still a comfortable cruiser. Like cruising down the road on your living room couch!

Tires have good tread on them, but are older date codes from 2006. Typical of low mileage cars such as this.

Most of this car’s mileage, per the Carfax report (can be supplied upon request), were accumulated prior to the year 2000, noting it had 56,000 miles in 2001. Thus over the past 23 years, has had just 11,000 more miles added to it as its collector status has continued to increase.

The car first changed owners in 2002. The Carfax report reflects the multiple smog checks that were completed every two years from 2001 through 2021. It shows another ownership transfer in 2021, which is when we acquired the car. Thus, it’s effectively a two owner car. The car has been California owned since new.

With lien sales, we do have to hang onto cars for approximately 1-2 years before they clear all liens and are available to be sold. The Carfax report reflects that the car was last serviced at 65,000 miles in 2021.

The car fires right up and runs great.

As with any of our lien sale cars, we do recommend that the new owner take them in for service as most have been sitting for a year or two. This one was serviced just 2,000 miles ago, but was serviced three years ago.

Vinyl top is in pretty good shape with the exception of a couple of spots just above the rear window where someone puddy-patched two small areas. Likely could be patched to look much better. Rest of the top is in great shape. (see photos/video).

Interior, as noted, has no excess wear. No tears. Headliner still tight. All original interior.

ONLY NOTED PROBLEMS OR AREAS THAT NEED ATTENTION, AS DETERMINED BY THE SELLERS PERSONAL WALK-AROUND AND TEST DRIVE OF THE VEHICLE INCLUDE, BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • Original radio turns on, but no sound coming through the speakers.
  • AC/Heater blower does not turn on.
  • Both appear to be electrical related rather than failure of the parts, but I haven’t had them diagnosed to be able to say with any certainty.

  • Windshield is cracked from the bottom to the top.
  • Filler plates between front fenders and front bumper / fascia are missing. (easy cheap find on e-bay)
  • Filller plates between rear fenders and rear taillights previously preplaced with non-color matching plates.
  • Vinyl top just above rear window has one silver dollar sized and one quarter sized puddy filled patches. Could be patched up more professionally.
  • Some scratches around the car with only a couple of very small door dings.
  • Some areas of paint are faded (primarily upward facing panels (hood, trunk). Sides still shine well.
  • Tires have good tread, but older date codes (2006).
  • Automatic Antenna does not fully retract.
  • Have two ignition keys, but do not have door lock keys (different style keys used back in the 80’s. Easy fix by any mobile locksmith who can come out and make a couple of keys for it quite quickly.
  • Having viewed many of these cars, this is certainly one of the cleanest 1980’s Cadillac’s that I’ve come across.

Appears that the filler plates between the front fender and front fascia and rear fenders and rear taillights were either stolen at some point or removed for some reason. The rear’s were previously replaced with likely, a used set purchased on Ebay or something and are silver in paint color. The two front filler plates have not been replaced. I do see them on E-bay quite cheap.

For this to be a really premium example, it doesn’t need much. Fix the couple of electrical bugs that appear to be impacting the radio and the AC controls, pick up the filler plates for the front on E-bay. Do a more professional job on the two quarter sized patches in the vinyl top and to put a cherry on top, could have it repainted to look like new. As noted, other than a few scratches and maybe one or two small door dings, the body is perfectly straight. Wouldn’t need much prep work to be painted. Personally, I’d try to match the paint for the filler plates in the front and back and would roll with it the way it is. It’s a great example of an all-original 38 year old time capsule.

PRICE REFLECTS IT BEING SOLD IN AS-IS CONDITION. SELLER OFFERS NO WRITTEN, EXPRESSED NOR IMPLIED WARRANTY OR GUARANTEES. BUYER ACCEPTS THIS BY CHOOSING TO BID ON THE VEHICLE. AS NOTED, IT IS A 38 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. AS WITH ANY VEHICLE OF THIS AGE, IT’S LIKELY TO NEED SOME GENERAL REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE.

As with all of our lien sales, the cars are sold As-Is. I’ve done a walk around and inspection of the vehicle and noted any areas in need of attention that are visible. This one, doesn’t appear to need much at all. However, the seller offers no written, expressed nor implied guarantees or warranty of any kind. I am not a dealer and therefore do not have a pre-certified inspection process. I view the car just as any buyer would when we acquire them.

The car is likely to sell below what many sell for. The discounted price is the benefit to the buyer. The seller will not contribute towards any cost of repairs, maintenance or repairs it may need. The likely reduced price it sells at as a result of NO RESERVE auction is the sellers contribution to the buyer, nothing that it’s likely to sell at well below market value price. With no reserve, it is priced to move quickly in an AS-IS sale.

I’ve included several high-resolution photos to show its condition as well as a link to a full walk-around and startup video.

BUYER AGREES TO HAVING KNOWLEDGE OF THE SELLERS DISCLOSURES NOTED ABOVE REGARDING THE KNOWN ITEMS THAT CURRENTLY NEED ATTENTION. WHILE NOT APPARENT TO THE SELLER, THE BUYER ACCEPTS THAT THERE COULD BE OTHER ISSUES IN NEED OF ATTENTION. THE SELLER HAS NOTED ANY ITEMS THAT WERE ABLE TO BE DETERMINED VIA A WALK-AROUND AND TEST DRIVE OF THE VEHICLE.

THE BUYER ACCEPTS FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THE VEHICLE'S CONDITION AND TAKES FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE VEHICLE UPON TAKING POSSESSION. BUYER FULLY UNDERSTANDS THAT THIS IS A 38 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH OVER 67,000 MILES. IT RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT, HOWEVER, IS NOT A NEW CAR. AS IS TYPICAL OF ANY CAR, IT WILL NEED MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS OVER TIME. TYPICAL WEAR AND TEAR ITEMS ARE CONSIDERED TO BE A PART OF TYPICAL MAINTENANCE, WHICH THE BUYER ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY TO DO AND ACCEPTS THE VEHICLE IN ITS FULLY AS-IS CONDITION BY COMPLETING THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. AS NOTED PER THE CARFAX REPORT, THE CAR PASSED SMOG IN 2021 AND HAS HARDLY BEEN DRIVEN SINCE. THE BUYER TAKES ON FULL RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SMOGGED AND ANY OTHER NECESSARY INSPECTIONS OR FEES REQUIRED TO REGISTER AND TITLE THE VEHICLE.

I RECENTLY ACQUIRED THE CAR VIA A LIEN SALE. CAR IS NOW FREE AND CLEAR WITH ALL LOANS / LIENS PAID OFF. As part of the as-is sale, seller will provide the buyer with all paperwork necessary to register and title the vehicle, including documentation that all liens have been satisfied. As with any used car purchase, buyer is responsible for all costs associated with getting the car smogged and registering the car into their own name. All loans / liens are already paid off. If sold to a California buyer, happy to go with you to my local DMV to ensure an easy transaction as I've sold several of these over the past few months. CHECK MY EBAY FEEDBACK. VERY EASY PROCESS. HAVE HAD VERY HAPPY BUYERS AS I DO ALL I CAN TO DISCLOSE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IN AN EFFORT TO UNDER-PROMISE AND OVER-DELIVER. I ALSO DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO ASSIST IN MAKING THIS A SMOOTH AND EASY TRANSACTION. I AM FLEXIBLE AND WILL WORK WITH THE BUYER IF DEADLINES CAN'T BE MET PRECISELY, AS LONG AS THE BUYER COMMUNICATES OPENLY WITH ME.

I CAN ASSURE THAT CALIFORNIA AND TEXAS HAVE NO ISSUES WITH LIEN SALE PURCHASES BY THE PUBLIC, HAVING SOLD CARS TO BUYERS IN BOTH STATES AND NEVER HAVING HAD A PROBLEM. SIMPLY DUE TO LACK OF EXPERIENCE SINCE I HAVEN’T SOLD TO BUYERS FROM OTHER STATES, I CANNOT ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE WHAT THEIR PROCESSES ARE. IF YOU ARE NOT FROM TEXAS OR CALIFORNIA, I WOULD RECOMMEND CHECKING WITH YOUR LOCAL DMV TO ENSURE THAT THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH LIEN SALE PURCHASES. WOULDN’T IMAGINE THAT THEY WOULD, BUT IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER TO BE SURE. THE WORST CASE SCENARIO WOULD BE THAT THEY MAY REQUIRE THE CAR BEING REGISTERED / TITLED IN CALIFORNIA FIRST, THEN TRANSFERRED TO YOUR STATE. THAT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY AS MOST STATES HAVE SIMILAR RULES.

CAR HAS A CLEAN TITLE HISTORY, CLEAN AND CLEAR TITLE WILL BE ISSUED. NO ACCIDENT HISTORY REPORTED THROUGH CARFAX.

PLEASE - ONLY BID IF YOU PLAN TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE PURCHASE. BIDDING IS A BINDING CONTRACT TO BUY THE CAR IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION. FOR A CAR AT THIS VERY LOW PRICE POINT, I CAN'T AFFORD TO WASTE TWO WEEKS IN HAVING TO RELIST AND/OR PAY LISTING FEES AGAIN. I KINDLY ASK THAT BIDDERS SHOW RESPECT AND COMPASSION AND PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU ARE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE SALE.

BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKING UP THE VEHICLE AND/OR MAKING ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE IT SHIPPED / TRANSPORTED TO YOUR LOCATION. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PICKING UP THE TRUCK OR HAVING IT SHIPPED / TRANSPORTED TO THE BUYER'S LOCATION.

THIS IS AN AS-IS LISTING OF A 38 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH 67,000 MILES ON IT. WHILE THE CAR APPEARS TO RUN GREAT AND DRIVE WELL, IT IS FULLY DISCLOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ACQUIRED THROUGH A LIEN SALE TRANSACTION. WHILE THIS IS CONSIDERED TO BE A PRIVATE PARTY SALE, THE SELLER HAS NOT HAD THE CAR INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC TO DETERMINE ANY ISSUES BEYOND WHAT ARE READILY NOTABLE THROUGH A WALK-AROUND AND TEST DRIVE OF THE VEHICLE.

IT IS AN "AS-IS" SALE. THIS IS THE PRIMARY REASON WHY IT IS BEING SOLD IN ANO RESERVE AUCTIONAND WILL LIKELY SELL ATWAY BELOW MARKET VALUE.THE VERY LOW PRICE TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THAT IT COULD NEED SOME REPAIRS. AGAIN, THE SELLER HAS DISCLOSED ANY KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE CAR. BASED ON MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION, IT DOESN’T APPEAR TO NEED MUCH, BUT I AM IN NO WAY, A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC QUALIFIED TO OFFER AN OPINION BEYOND JUST A PERSONAL OPINION.

BUYER ACCEPTS FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL REPAIRS THE CAR MAY NEED. THE SELLER IS NOT AWARE OF ANY OTHER KNOWN ISSUES.AGAIN, THE VERY LOW PRICE IT WILL SELL AT, TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THAT THIS IS A 38 YEAR OLD VEHICLE THAT COULD BE IN NEED OF MAINTENANCE AND POSSIBLY SOME REPAIRS.

CAR WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY SELL FAR LOWER THAN WHAT OTHER SIMILAR CARS ARE SELLING FOR. THAT HUGE PRICE REDUCTION IS THE SELLERS ONLY ASSISTANCE TOWARD MAINTENANCE OR MAKING ANY REPAIRS NECESSARY. THE SELLER WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE TOWARD ANY REPAIRS ONCE THE SALE IS FINAL, REGARDLESS IF ADDITIONAL ITEMS ARE DISCOVERED.
