The 1963 Eldorado Biarritz was Cadillac's top-of-the-line convertible model and a large luxurious Cadillac built in this particular bodystyle for only four years (1961-64) with slight re-stylings each year and no primary competition in its category. New styling for 1963 (known as the 6th generation of 1963-64) brought a return to a slightly bulkier looking car however less sculpted body sides imparted cleaner overall styling and therefore the new 1963 Cadillac arguably looked more elegant, particularly in the sparsely chrome trimmed Eldorado. Only 1,825 of these exclusive and luxurious Eldorado's were built and are now a very rare automobile, compared for example with the Series 62 convertible with some 17,600 built. It could easily carry six people and had a power top for the first time and also featured the 390/325HP V8 engine. These were the final years of the rear wheel drive Cadillac and amongst the best of the breed. With these rare mid-sixties models becoming increasingly thinned out now, these last year Biarritz models are now being appreciated by Cadillac enthusiasts more than ever before as an increasingly desirable and collectible Cadillac from its very best years!
This particular example in extraordinarily fine condition throughout and was sold new on 11/30/1962 at 'Marvin Brown Cadillac' of San Diego, CA with it's original dealers stamped 'Cadillac Owner Protection Plan' and owner's manual still in superb 'time capsule' condition and still boastsing it's original California 'Black License Plates'. The car is reportedly recently acquired from long term southern California ownership
