1953 Cadillac DeVille Series 62 Additional Info:
Gorgeous Coupe DeVille finished in classic Springtime Yellow and matching interior! Original 331ci V8 and Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Optioned with power steering & brakes, power windows, full wheel discs, E-Z-Eye tinted glass, Coker radial whitewall tires, Autronic Eye, and fog lamps. Wonderfully capable driver and show worthy example. Cadillac Automobile Company had just celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 1952, and with such success, they achieved record sales! So in 1953, Cadillac made only slight changes to the Series 62 body style that included heavier bumpers with integrated bumperettes, redesigned headlight brows with parking lamps repositioned underneath. This marked the final iteration of the third generation Series 62 model. Changes under the hood did include an upgrade to 210 horsepower mated to a standard Hydro-Matic automatic transmission! Simple rocker trim and the V-emblems marked the hood and deck lid to set Cadillacs upscale luxury line apart. Offered here is a 1953 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe Deville finished in a sharp Springtime Yellow exterior with White roof, matched to a Yellow cloth/white vinyl custom interior. It remains all numbers matching with original Rochester carbureted 331ci V8 under the hood, Dual Range Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, and 3.31 geared rear axle. Options include power steering, power brakes, hydraulically-operated power windows, 15 steel wheels with full disc covers wrapped in Coker Classic 235/75R15 wide whitewall tires, signal-seeking AM radio with foot control, Autronic Eye auto-dimming headlamps, fender skirts, door handle paint protectors, driver outside mirror, fog lamps, E-Z-Eye tinted glass, and more!
This particular example comes from the South Florida area where it treated to a full cosmetic restoration many years ago that included a full-color change from original Forrest Green Metallic to the pale yellow it presents in today. The results are now believed to be pushing 20 years old, and still, prove to be outstanding with some visible wear noted on entry & exit points! The paint application was obviously completed professionally remaining very sharp and providing excellent gloss! The chrome and bright work are all in very good condition. Inside the front, the driver seat is showing some fading on the bottom along with some patina around the door panels, but very little can be critiqued otherwise! It continues to start, run, and drive down the road with utter ease. It shifts super smooth and can handle highway speeds all day long! The majority of service work was completed by The Car Doctor based in Eustis, Florida for the past 7 years, operated by Billy Fowler, a 30+ year GM mechanic & transmission expert. This included new front brake cylinders & adjustments, cooling system renovated with re-cored radiator, new water pump, & thermostat, rebuilt wiper motor, and complete transmission service in 2017 to include fresh filter, adjusted bands, pan gasket, & fluids. It was proudly, and avidly, shown in the central Florida area by the previous owner as often as possible. Included with this vehicle will be a matching spare tire, original jack, wrench, in a nicely detailed trunk. The underhood presentation is also very sharp with original, matching engine and chassis VIN stamp clearly visible. It should be noted that this example was assigned a new VIN out of the state of Oregon. The factory chassis & engine number read 536284010. More recent conditioning by the St. Louis Car Museum includes new interior carpeting & rear package tray, rebuilt heater system after with new control valve, T-pipe, hoses, radiator cap, along with having the heater cores boiled out, flushed, and pressure tested. The brakes have been cleaned and adjusted and new rear taillight lenses installed in freshly re-chromed housings. We also replaced the battery, wiper blades, outside rearview mirror, all engine fluids & filters, driveshaft U-joints, under hood insulating pad, and idler arm assembly. This represents a terrific opportunity for any Cadillac enthusiast and collector alike!
