Starts right up, sounds good. Coming up on it's 50th Birthday, this was a new standout for MY 1971. This was considered one of the most dependable drive trains that Cadillac ever made, the 500 CID V8 engine and the turbo hydramatic transmission. He had intended to restore the car, but his wife had other ideas. The car is rust free, it has spent its life in Texas & Oklahoma. I saw three small dings in the hood area. The rest of the car is rust & damage free. Runs well, fun car to own, restore a little at a time. The engine seems strong the transmission shifts through just fine. This is he original colorSausalito Green Firemist* (2355)and it's been repainted before and looks to need it again. Trunk surface and the right rear quarter panel have faded. Some paint has come off the trunk and shows raw metal under the paint. The car was probably repainted/refurbished some 25 years ago & could use it again. There is NO RUST and the paint would be easy because the body is nice & straight. The white leather interior is all original and shows some fading and cracking. The top is free of damage and holes, but has come loose beneath the glass rear window (pictured) The top is worth saving and should be possible. I helped put the top down, but I'm thinking its low on hydraulic fluid and needs to be topped off. Top motor seems to be working ok. I think everything electrically is real good including the horn, wipers and power windows. Did not check the A/C. The tires look ok, do not know how old they are. It could be just cosmetically freshened up and it would look nice. The dash is crack free, the driver door panel has a crack in it, the passenger side is fine. Carpets look good, not new.

A UAW nationwide strike against General Motors lasted 67 days, and sharply limited the number of 1971 models dealers had available to sell. Cadillac production fell to its lowest level in six years. The 1971 Cadillac Eldorado look was all new, inside & out. Although it had a heavier, more massive look to it, one knew at a glance it was an Eldorado. And for 1971, a new Convertible model was added to the line, making the

The Ford Thunderbird made its last convertible in 1966, and the Imperial's final effort was in 1968. Lincoln never offered a personal luxury drop top, but the last one from Lincoln was built in 1967.

There could be two ways to take this car, a complete restoration (expensive and time consuming) or just a freshening up. I think I would repaint this car, have the interior refinished and re-dyed. All hubcaps are there. The original spare tire is included with the jack. Trunk area is nice and clean. Help yourself by making your best offer~because it's time for him to sell.
