1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Additional Info:
Up for your consideration is an immaculate 1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Survivor with less than 31K original miles. I am the 2nd owner of this car. I purchased it 2 years ago in the mountains of Tennessee from the estate of the original owner through her grandson. Per her grandson, his grandmother purchased this car new in 1985 from Potamkin Cadillac in Atlanta as a gift for herself upon her retirement. As it was the nicest thing she ever purchased for herself, she was afraid to drive it and subject it to dings and dents. She primarily only drove it via Interstate from Memphis, TN to Dallas, TX to visit family. With the exceptions listed below, it is original factory silver paint, similar to Robert Dinero's Caddy in the movie "Casino."
When I purchased it, the car had been sitting for awhile and the ethanol fuel had gummed up the fuel lines. I replaced everything, and it now starts and purrs like a kitten and runs like a dream. It is so smooth on the road that it's like driving a comfortable couch down the road. The engine is the 4100, and the VIN number of the car indicates that it was produced after GM made corrections to strengthen that engine to correct the leaks common to them. The engine compartment is very clean, and the AC blows cold and has been converted to 134. I have gone through the car and am not aware of any leaks, and hoses were replaced when I originally purchased the car.
I also replaced the headliner, as it was sagging and had the original Bose sound system rebuilt, as 2 of the speaker amps had blown, as was common with the Bose Symphony Sound systems of this era. I actually sent the radio and speakers off to 3 different repair centers before finding someone in Virginia to repair it correctly. It now functions perfectly and sounds great. The power antenna works as well.
The red leather tufted interior is about as perfect as it gets. There is not a single tear anywhere in the leather, and I haven't even found any scuffs, either. The carpet is in similar condition, showing only minor wear. I've been driving this car with clear floor mats the last 2 years to protect the original carpet. The dash has no cracks, the wood grain is perfect and all interior courtesy lights and cigarette lighters work. Chrome is in excellent condition. I do not believe this car was every smoked in, although I can't guarantee it. It just smells like the original leather seats. The trunk is perfect, with original trunk mat and stickers included. Remote trunk release works. All emblems have the original vibrant colors, and power locks, windows and power seat switches work. Both driver and passenger side seats are powered. Headlights and taillights are clear. Wire wheels are in excellent condition. It even has the original dealer front tag and dealer emblem.
These are the only issues I'm aware of:
1) There is evidence of a small repair to the vinyl on the drivers arm rest, which is pictured. Not really noticeable.2) The cruise control does not work. I have tried to fix this, but can't seem to get it right.3) Pin stripe on trunk has been repainted, and it is very good but not perfect.4) The area above the molding on the drivers door has been repainted, as there were a couple of door dings that I had taken out. In the right light, there is a very *slight* color difference, but most of the time it is not noticeable. It was actually a month or 2 before I even noticed it. There is a bit of overspray around the pinstripe near the side mirror.5) The top of the trunk lid has been repainted, as there was a scratch in the original paint.6) There are miscellaneous small blemishes in the paint, and 3-4 pin-size rust spots around the windshield and rear hood edge on the passenger's side.7) The coach lights on the vinyl top do not work. I have replaced the bulbs, but they still did not work. I may have used the wrong bulb, as I tried to convert to LED.8) The vinyl top has some small cracks in it due to age, but is in otherwise very good condition.9) The drivers front wire wheel cover shows a very small curb dent along its outer edge and there are a few very minor scuffs on the wire wheel covers from being driven, but you have to look VERY closely to see any of it.10) The windshield is not original. I replaced it due to a crack about a year ago.
If you've been in the market for one of these classy Cadillac's, I can just about guarantee you will not find a cleaner one in the USA. Please feel free to ask me any questions you have.
