Marketed as the last Cadillac convertible -- ever -- and celebrating America's Bicentennial anniversary, the 1976 Eldorado was huge. Huuuge.

It also came with the biggest V8 engine ever installed in a production automobile, boasting of a genuine 500 cubic inches, or 8.2 liters (for the folks from across the pond). Actually, 1976 was the final year his huge motor was offered in a Cadillac, and it also was the final year of the true, full-size Caddys.
Stunning-looking in all its Firethorn Red metallic glory, this Eldorado offers an affordable entry into the world of superlative cars. If you'd like to experience a car that glides along as silently as a swan on a mirror-like lake, look no further.
Being a well-kept specimen that was only used sparingly, the car comes with its full set of factory books and manuals.
Big engine almost looks small under the Eldo's huge hood. With plenty of torque, this Eldo runs as smoothly as a contemporary Rolls Royce.
There's no smoke on start-up or at any other time; there are no unusual noises, either. Just your typical, virtually indestructible American Vee Eight!
Thankfully, there are no fluid leaks of any kind to note.
Eldo's body is as straight as an arrow. All of the brightwork is beautifully preserved.
The power-operated, off-white convertible top is free of rips or tears. It features a glass rear window. We've just replaced the convertible top motor and relay to insure trouble-free operation.
A few years back, the Eldo was repainted in its original color, to the tune of $7,051.00, as documented by the original invoice.
The car's finish is marvelous and sparkles in the California sunlight. Only noticeable flaw is some paint peeling on the left front "filler piece" which should be easy to correct. There are no dents, rust bubbles, scrapes or any other boo-boos that would cause a serious collector sleepless nights.
Eldo's interior is in nice, unrestored original condition. There are a couple small hairline splits on the dash. The A/C currently does not blow cold. Power seat is inoperable, too. We'll have our mechanic look into it, might just need some lubrication. Lights and gauges are in good working order.
Cadillac's instrumentation is sparse but functional. 56,240 is believed to be the car's actual mileage.
White leather with firethorn carpeting perfectly complements Caddy's exterior.
Still supple and nicely patinated, the Eldo's leather seats are supremely spacious and comfortable.
Eldo's a true 6-seater! (Though you'll easily fit eight adults.)
Impressive rear view of a fine land yacht.
Rust free trunk features the factory gray felt mat and original spare. Also visible, a desirable option, the two-piece parade boot, which is a hard-shell cover to be used in place of a conventional soft tonneau when the convertible top is down. The parade boot provides a great place for cheerleaders and dignitaries to repose during parades!
Cadillac's undercarriage presents itself original, dry, unmolested, free of any rust-through or prior accident damage.
Note near new exhaust system.
November 22nd was another fine and sunny day in our little California beachside paradise, and we were excited to take the Eldorado out for a test drive and photo session.
The car starts, runs, idles, drives, shifts, handles and stops just like its makers intended. It's big, sure, but with all the power assists on hand it's actually very easy to maneuver.
The world's biggest tanning machine.
Returning home, we are all smiles. Being the captain of a behemoth like this 42-year-old Cadillac convertible is a blast. Even in the age of ever-bigger SUVs and pickups, an Eldorado convertible stands out from the mundane. Driving it, you're in a class all by yourself.
We think this neat Eldorado would look perfect in someone's circular driveway. It's also a very affordable entry to any beach cruise-in or "cars and coffee" type event.
At this price point, there's no competition!
