1940 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special Additional Info:
Up for sale is a 1940 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special Series. This is a beautiful CCCA classic that is ready to drive and enjoy. The car starts and runs well - very quiet - a great driver.
It retains the original 135 bhp /346 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine. The car shifts smoothly with the three speed selective synchromesh manual transmission, steers well, and has a smooth ride. It has theoriginal6 volt system (positive ground), original hub caps with theCadillacemblem, factory ventilator / heater and original jack !!! This was the last year the side mountspareswere offered and this car has them along with the rear view mirrors with the Cadillaclogo. The car is very clean- and was repainted some years ago in the original colors of Evergreen (lower body) and Chicory Green (upper and wheels). The car rides on a 129"wheelbase chassis. The Trippe fog lights work as well.Custom rear fender skirts (not pictured) painted to match body. The interioris nicely done in Mohair Fabric and may be the original and shows minimal signs of wear. Headliner is intact and looks very good. All gauges work except the fuel gauge is intermittent. It retains the original standard Trippe lights and in dash clock. There is a small crack in windshield (approx. 1" in length) and the dome light is not working (bulb?)
The car was part of the Richard and Linda Kughn collection - sold in 2013 at RM Auctions - St. John's 2013 thus being a beautifulcar from this collection.....my mechanics have not seen one so well preserved comingout of well know collector, my mechanic thinks I am crazy to get rid of such a great example......a newer project has my eye.....this one drives better than a lot of my other early brands...says a lot about Cadillac...they always set the bar.
Hydraulic brakes have been rebuilt and shoes replaced.Paint and chrome have been detailed since pictures were shot.Shift linkagereplaced with NOS partsNew wide white radialsAll fluids changed andgreased all suspension pointsNew forward motor wire harness, wiring gone through and replaced where necessaryCustom rear fender skirts (not pictured) painted to match body....looks hot!Battery disconnect installedSeems to have every option but radio!!
Extras Include:
Operating hints for the 1940 Cadillac Manual and interior radio grille blank if you so wanted to put a radio in.
The car has had an easy life in El Paso, and has been in climate controlled storage when I am not enjoying it on the road or at a car show -- a head turner for sure.

The car is being sold 'as-is, where-is'. There is no warrantee or guarantee either expressed or implied. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding ... inspection of the car by appointment
