1981 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Sedan
Collector Owned
Meticulously cared for car
Only 45,466 original miles!
Here’s one you do not see very often…
A “blast from the past” sedan that remains the ultimate in motoring luxury, for a discriminating few…
This car has been babied since new, used mainly as a Sunday driver, seldom, if ever, driven in the rain, always garaged, having had one original owner (1981-2007), followed by two collector owners thereafter (2007 – current). It was originally purchased at Lindburg Cadillac in St. Louis, Missouri on June 5, 1981 with 25 miles on the clock. The original owner was Mike Balsamo. It was sold by Mr. Balsamo’s wife on December 2, 2006 to a Dallas, Texas collector, followed by the current owner from late 2015, who is an avid member of the national Cadillac & La Salle Club, and President of the Carolina Region Cadillac & La Salle Club.
The low mileage program including occasional drives, no rain, along with a protective garage at all times regimen has been maintained by the current and former collector owner. The car’s impeccable condition is a testament to this! Leather interior is soft and supple with no imperfections, and the interior is not faded. The original paint still has plenty of luster and the vinyl top, original to the car, still has plenty of sheen.
The Fleetwood is very well equipped, and all original documentation including window sticker and bill of sale are available and will go to the new owner. The car is equipped with leather interior in the color of Antique Gray, coordinating carpeting and interior trim, the AM/FM Symphony Sound Cassette Radio, Cadilac Garage Opener, Locking Wire Wheel Discs, along with the rare and expensive Astroroof. The Astroroof was a very rare option not normally ordered due to the high cost at the time, and this one operates perfectly opening and closing.
The car hasn’t ever been spared needed service, and over the course of my ownership, it’s had the below, most of which was performed by our local Cadillac dealer and expert Cadillac mechanic well learned in the cars of this period:
All accessories work flawlessly and as intended, with the exception of the power antenna, which can be raised or lowered manually. (The original antenna is there, and disconnected.)All of the fiber optics work, including the integrated side opera lights, along with the illuminated entry system lock cylinder lighting! Wow! The car also features the trumpet horn, which sounds like a train, very loud, and designed to have folks get out of your way! The stereo radio plays beautifully through all speakers, and the cassette player works nicely too.
The car starts, drives, and runs flawlessly. All you do is turn the key, and it starts quickly each time.It is very quiet, smooth, and enjoyable to drive. It is equipped with the 368 cubic inch cast iron fuel injected 8 cylinder engine, which runs on all 8 cylinders all of the time. The transmission shifts smoothly and effortlessly through all of the gears. There are no strange noises, smells, or smoking from the car, and it is very powerful, and agile on the road, just as you'd expect from a Cadillac!
I am selling it reluctantly to make room for a 1960 Fleetwood, my next project.
Don’t let it pass you by! Inspections and/or questions are welcomed.
