This is a tremendously fun Eldo convertible and one of the last of the big floaters! This car is an eye catcher and it is impossible to drive without getting lots of thumb's ups, requests to share information and requests to take pictures with it. This car is NOT for shy people. It makes a statement with a factory length of about 18.5' and a bit of extra length provided by the huge steer horns attached to the hood with very strong, high quality wrought iron. The color combination is great for anyone looking for a mid-70's Eldo in a unique color (don't you get sick of all the white, red and black caddy's?) and is particularly fitting for anyone with connections to the University of Texas as this is the ultimate in "Hook 'em Horns" pride -- though that never applied to me or the previous owner. This car is just a lot of fun! What a fantastic ride for a fraternity, alumni association, or for the current student looking to travel in style and with all his/her friends! This is a massive 6 seater with plenty of room for all your friends and luggage!
This is not a perfect show car. It appears to have been repainted in its original mandarin orange color 1x before and shows some age but still presents well. The leather interior is also in "ok" shape with two tears in the drivers seat (one on seat bottom and one on seat back) and a tear that was repaired once in the middle of the rear seat at the top. It came to me without the heat or AC and the clock does not work but we all have clocks on our phones and we don't really need the heat or air in a car like this, do we?? The radio/8track works "sometimes" and the car will come with an 8track of Elvis. Power locks work, power windows work though the rear right quarter window is off the track right now (all parts are there it just skipped the track recently). The power “scissor” top goes down effortlessly but sometimes needs a bit of help coming up. It is pretty heavy, after-all. The top is in decent condition but does have 1 tear about 5-6" long on rear drivers side in the same spot that seems to plague these GM big boats. I do have a new top in the trunk ready to be installed by the new owner and have installed new custom carpet floor mats in the car with an embroidered Cadillac logo in gold. I also have 1 extra painted hubcap in the original color (but with dent in the dish that could be pounded out) The power antenna does not work right now and I have never tried to fix it so it might just need some grease. As for other known imperfections, the passenger ash tray cover is present but does not stay closed and in addition to the seat imperfections noted and shown in pics, there is a tear in the drivers’ side door card vinyl. The steering wheel is in ok shape but some of the "wood inlay" has cracked off. The driver side top clasp is not original but I do have a replacement in the glove box ready to be installed (a couple screws). The car generally runs pretty good but sometimes idles rich. The horn is currently disconnected and the speedometer just started acting up a bit. The car has great power seats, adjustable mirrors, a "remote" trunk release in the dash, soft-close trunk deck, an outside thermometer built into the drivers’ side-view mirror, painted hubcaps, and the rare fiberglass color-coded parade boot is present and really finishes off the car nicely. I also installed a new 12v accessory outlet under the dash and have a high quality outdoor car cover that will be included with the car, too.
This car is currently insured for over $20,000 with Hagerty and is currently valued by Hagerty at $17,300 in #3 condition and $10,300 in #4 condition so the winner of this auction is going to get a value for sure!
Fun Car that turns heads. Unfortunately, my time with this one has passed as the wife's attention has turned to another of the oldies so this one goes to a new home so it can be enjoyed. This car is going to go to a new owner for FAR less than I paid and while my kids and I are sad to see her go, we all know what happens when our partner no longer has interest in a toy....My loss is your gain.
