Consider the cool meter pegged! This 1960 Cadillac Series 62 convertible was the epitome of sophisticated chic when it was released and has become even more so over the years. Opulently equipped for its time and carrying about as much style as you could possibly pack into one car, it represents the opportunity for its next lucky owner to get behind the wheel of an iconic vehicle that arguably has symbolized success over the years as much as any domestic model released.
The unrestrained styling and generous proportions of this drop top are evident right away. It's just under 19 feet long and it is magnificent to behold. Up front, the display of chrome includes a front grille that spans the considerable width of the car, with a bumper underneath that looks more than capable of protecting everything behind it. The bright red shade is a great fit for an attention magnet like this - though not the original color, it looks as if it would have been the perfect choice back when this extravagant cruiser debuted. Despite its more than 55 years on the road, it remains straight and well aligned - Series 62 Cadillacs are distinguished by the long stretches of chrome on their sides and these are impressively level as you trace them from just behind the front tire all the way back to the rear bumper. The enclosed rear wheel wells conceal half of the rear tires and add a deluxe, almost aftermarket look, and the tail fins in back - refined yet sizable, with their oval tail light enclosures at the bottom - are a conversation piece unto themselves. Should the skies darken while you're on the road, the electrically-powered white convertible top is in fine condition and will raise into place for protection.
From the looks of the interior, this classic convertible has had the good fortune to have spent nearly all of its down time sheltered from the elements. The expansive white front and rear bench seats show only very minimal wear and provide all the comfort you'd want while cruising the boulevard with the top down on a sunny day. The dash area just beyond the steering wheel is a great example of '60s style, with the smooth white steel on its surface ornamented by an expanse of textured chrome and a set of still very readable gauges in the cluster. Cadillac took its interior appointments seriously - equipping their upscale models like this one with quite a collection to distinguish them from the competition. Not only is the factory air conditioning a rare find for a convertible of this vintage, but the power seats and windows it features now were fairly uncommon then, as well. The trunk area in back is just as spacious as you would expect - seemingly large enough to stow a compact car inside - and a full size spare with plenty of tread sits securely moored to the side.
There's a period-correct 390 cubic inch V8 sitting under the hood that's running strong and, paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission, has all the power to propel this sizable cruiser down the highway without breaking a sweat, carrying about 325 horses and a full 410 lb./ft. of torque to get things moving. Power brakes and power steering combine to make stopping and navigating low effort endeavors. This unusually stylish '60s automotive icon sits on a set of 15" stock Cadillac wheels, outfitted with Coker Classic whitewalls.
With its sumptuous look and stalwartly, powerful drivetrain, this 1960 Cadillac Series 62 convertible has "through the roof" visual impact and stands ready to turn heads on the road as soon as you get it home. Call today!
