Offered for sale for the first time in fifteen years, this 1957 exceptional beauty is for the most sophisticated collector and enthusiast who views this vehicle as a work of art. In its day this 1957 traveled the highways and considered a motorcar of special distinction. Initial factory production of 9000 vehicles has diminished to a few remaining today at this level of condition, reliability along with the privilege received when piloting from behind the wheel. The subtle accent of rear fins made this model year the most sought after of the decade, after the famous ’59 rocket fins. The smooth effortless driving is the result of a 365 cu 300 HP engine.
The engine was replaced eight years ago and has provided the ability to make trips many would be hesitant to take. The vehicle does not ‘sit in a glass box’ but is driven and showcased throughout the NJ/NY/Conn. region. It has been the lead vehicle in wedding processions, eye candy for birthday parties and was featured in the 2007 edition of Forbes magazine. Mileage is original at 67,000. Five years ago 140 hours were invested to take the paint down, rebuild bondo patches (from the previous owner) and re-paint the original code 12 Alpine white with correct DuPont Lacquer Chroma base Urethane plus clear coat. The car is as close to being straight (no waves) as it would be when driving off the showroom floor. Includes power windows, brakes, antenna, and convertible top and six-way seat. All gauges, heater and defroster work. There is an AM/FM radio but the dash appearance of the radio maintains the original AM look. Functioning front and rear speakers. The set of four Sabre wheels set this vehicle apart from most. The original standard hubs are included along with a spare front grille. Four correct white wall tires were replaced several years ago and maintain excellent tread. Full spare and jack plus one additional tire (patched), available for emergency needs. Chrome overall, inside and out is very good condition. A number of interior pieces were re-chromed eight years ago. Red leather is treated annually and is in very good condition. Features black front and rear floor mats with Cadillac logo. Red carpeting underneath shows well. Lights and turn signals function as they should. Exhaust travels through the rear bumpers as originally designed. A matching red leather soft boot remains in very good condition.
Always garaged, this 1957 comes with an original Beverly Hills cover for added protection. The original new car manual remains in the glove box along with a detailed service manual for those so inclined. The vehicle even has the original delivery card provided by General Motors: Delivery date of 9/12/58. An original-look period battery was replaced two years ago and is wired with an AGM tender for off-season trickle charge. The engine compartment is well maintained. The vehicle has been serviced by one of North Jersey’s well respected classic automobile shops: Log Cabin, Tenafly, NJ. Some of Log Cabins work includes replacing inner/outer wheel bearings, complete rebuild of brakes and master cylinder, replaced manifold and gaskets, replaced front ball joints, new Rochester carburetor 4BBL, new fuel pump, new fuel tank in 2009, with receipts to show plus an on-going service program. Flaws: Driver’s side window has small chip in corner, some pitting on 2 of the 4 Sabre wheels, steering wheel has two cracks, interior passenger side chrome strip has slight pitting, convertible top has small patch from inside (plastic rear window in excellent condition). Average auction sale of a ’57 in this condition is $100,500. Serious inquiries for additional information is available. 201-280-3380
