1966 Cadillac DeVille Additional Info:

1966 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. A two owner California car, I'm the 3rd in Chicago. Always garage kept, Beautiful Marlin Blue Poly paint ( color code 24 ), has a slight shimmering metallic glow. Professional bare metal frame on repaint in 2009. Original chrome bumpers in great shape. Two door handles were chromed at repaint job.
New body to bumper gaskets, door handle gaskets, trunk lock gaskets, hood and trunk bumpers. Trunk weather strip, new roof rail and door gaskets all replaced during repaint.Front and rear glass removed and resealed, and bare metal top painted before new correct style (SMS Auto Co. ) padded vinyl top installed. All trim bright work in great shape. Bumpers removed for paint job and reinstalled with new rubber trim. All rubber parts replaced for correct paint job in March 2009.
Interior refinished in March 2010, seat tracks cleaned and greased, seat springs repaired as needed and frames painted. New front and rear seat foam and vinyl covers. Two front door panels redyed, arm rests recovered and carpeted bottom of doors. New correct style carpet and padding installed. Original seat belts in great shape. Headliner in great shape. A non smoking owners car. Glass good, no scratches.
Have receipts showing above work, totaling 11k.
Four new tires at 84,579 miles on August 2007. Good Year Regatta White walls 235/75R15. Still in great shape with excellent thread. See photo. Replaced engine rocker arm shafts in March 2016 from USA caddy parts. Sand blasted rocker arm covers, primed epoxy and painted correct shade dark blue paint. New water pump installed with new fuel pump. New rocker arm cover gaskets. Belts and hoses replaced at this time while everything apart. Changed all coolan, radiator hoses and rubber hoses to fuel pump. Recored original brass radiator with new thermostat and radiator cap installed. Rebuilt original starter. Battery cables ok. Has after market ends to top post battery terminals.
This Coupe De Ville came from California. Have all records from the first 2 previous owners. Have original owners manual and California service records.I bought it in August 2007 and shipped to Chicago where it has been in winter garage storage since and driven only for the summer seasons. In October 2007 AAMCO Transmissions rebuild the TH400 transmission, at 85,174 miles with a new torque converter, new starter drive flex plate, new rubber trans mount bushing, and balanced the driveshaft. Rear end opened up and inspected with new axle bearings installed and fresh gear lube.Removed oil pan and installed new gaskets and rear main seal while transmission was being rebuilt. They painted the oil pan and transmission pan black, while it should of been Cadillac deep blue..Have all receipts showing above work, totaling 5K.
Replaced driver side power window lock out switch, passengers window switch, and repaired the wire harness by drivers door pillar. Soldered those 8 window wire leads that break due to door opening and closing... March 2016. New alternator, heat blower motor, and low beam headlights replaced in March 2017. Recently in November 2017 replaced the two exhaust manifold gaskets to down pipes. Also had muffler shop replace a short exhaust pipe between the original resonator and muffler. New AC/Delco cap and rotor, wires and plugs. Never opened up the Carter 4 barrel carb to rebuild. Always ran fine. Pump carb with a cold motor just 2 times and this CDV will always start right up and then idle down nicely..
Always did a yearly oil change, 10w 30 with a AC/ Delco PF24 oil filter. Greased upper and lower ball joints also. Other front end steering parts factory sealed, cant grease them, but all still tight with no squeaking or groaning. 4 wheel drum brakes fine, inspected and found all to be ok. No leaking at master cylinder. Never replaced shocks, coil springs, u joints or any steering or suspension part. Car runs great, and just floats down roads. Very solid car, crossing rough train tracks and this CDV just skips right over without bottoming out or shaking. Great road car...
Nice loud train style sounding horns work, All power windows work, lights, power antenna, but radio doesn't play. Electric clock not working. Wipers work but need the correct stainless steel frame wipers made by AC/ Delco (classic series) to look perfect cosmetically. Replaced battery in September 2017. A/C compressor and all hoses removed, in trunk, see photo. Condenser mounted in front of radiator. Car came from Cal with A/C not working. Heat works, has new blower motor. Sometimes the master vacuum switch will not turn on blower. Might need to rebuild this switch. Has original working heater control vacuum valve.
Under carriage rust free, inspection welcome. Test drives encouraged, located near Chicago, Il in Skokie, Il 60077. Paint job in great shape, except for 4 small chips / scratches on top of hood by drivers side. Years ago while in storage in the garage these chips were done. Metal is not dented, just paint is down to primer/ metal. Must touch up, blend in to be 100% perfect.
