1969 Cadillac Eldorado Additional Info:

>>LOW RESERVE AUCTION<< 1969 CADILLAC ELDORADO. California car, no rust. Was repainted and interior redone in California. 472cid V8 engine. Front wheel drive, automatic transmission.Mileage 57,774, but speedometer not working, so this mileage not accurate. (No signal from transmission gear to speedo head. Cables connected and spin but receive no speed output from transmission.)A running and a dependable driver for me since May 2017.Bought from California owner in March 2017. Looks like a beginners restoration project started but not completed. Came off the transport truck with a decent 20 footer paint job but interior not assembled and parts all in trunk and interior. Now runs and drives as good as can be with the parts found in car.A decent running car with cosmetic imperfections, that still is a fun, sharp looking cruiser. No major drivetrain problems or issues. But not ..... an original survivor factory untouched car by any means. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Test drives and inspections welcome, located by the Chicago area. I took 24 pictures to show condition, no rust or dents to bodywork. Many things repaired, see list below...
Rebuilt 4 barrel Rochester carb and connected disconnected choke. Gaskets old and were seeping. Now motor starts when cold and idles down after choke heats up.Replaced points. Cap and rotor, plugs and wires ok..Connected windshield wiper arms and new wiper blades installed.Oil change 6 quarts 10w 30 and Ac Delco pf 24 oil filter. And changed oil again in Sept 2017. Motor has slight lifter noise on pass side heads. But on cold start up only and some times slight blue smoke from that side exhaust. Maybe worn valve seal or seat? Does not smoke all the time when driving.Looks like the complete dual exhaust system was replaced, with mild rumble sounding turbo style mufflers.New starter, and repaired the wire harness from starter to battery cables. New neg and pos battery cables.Battery replaced April 2017Tires have decent thread and i pulled the rear drums to inspect brakes. Looks like a new rubber brake axle hose and wheel cylinders, shoes in rear brakes were replaced. Drums not scored so i painted them black. Not a lot of rust on brakes. Front calipers has new rubber flex hoses, and thick pads. Front rotors look good. Master cylinder not leaking, so brakes ok.Changed rear air shocks and new air fill valve located under rear bumper.Front sway bar end links replaced. Replaced front shocks. Driver side front CV boot split, this needs replacing....But no clunking or clicking when driving or turning corners from constant velocity joints.Transmission shifts fine, but no red pointer inside dash cluster to tell what gear you are in. Lost by previous owner.. Minor transmission pan gasket leak at front. I tightened bolts a little but didn't change that gasket...Has cruise control unit under hood but not connected or working.Car has no a/c parts left, No compressor, condenser, evaporator, or a/c hoses. Previous owner removed these parts??I took apart the climate control parts to get the heat to work, but some vacuum pods and controls not working correctly. The master vacuum switch works sometimes after i replaced feet of old cracked vacuum hoses. I took dash apart to get heat to work hi and low but will not do the automatic climate control setting. We all know these systems are really fun to work on and if the vacuum pods can be replaced with used units maybe the climate control system will work 100%Replaced heater hoses and heater vacuum valve.
Installed new door and trunk locks. Old ones worn. Ignition lock works but will not lock steering column.New low beam headlights. All exterior lights work, headlights, markers, trunk and reverse light.Replaced cracked turn signal switch inside steering column. Horn does not work...Previous owner installed a different steering wheel from an 81 Eldorado.Has working power door locks, all power windows work. I cleaned, adjusted and greased all window channels and regulators.Gas gauge works. Radio does not work. No power antenn, was removed by previous owner.Interior was recovered but not a high quality job, new headliner installed. Rear sail panel by rear window missing black vinyl piece. Missing rear seat pass side power window switch. Front bench seat center armrest loose, missing metal support bracket. Only driver seat belt, no passenger or rear seat belts in car.Roof rail weather strip looks like it was replaced. Dark blue carpet looks recently replaced. Missing dash a/c grille vents on passenger side.
See pictures, I pulled the front and rear seats to work on dash and rear power window tracks and to put seats back into the correct position. Dry rust free floor pans and trunk area. I wire brushed and then painted with POR 15 rust preventive paint. Car was gold from factory, then was painted dark blue, now painted black.Paint job has minor fish eyes and crazing of paint as well as some chips. I touched up the chips and buffed out the black paint to a decent looking gloss. Chrome bumpers fair, has scratches but no dents. Car glass has scratches. No front Cadillac crest on hood or trunk lock crest. No ELDORADO letters on car. I guess these were removed for the last paint job in California? No rust on frame or under car, but see pictures, black vinyl top was painted black and has rust bubbles under vinyl top. I do not drive this car in the rain since the front windshield needs resealing and drips rain.
Drives well, transmission shifts fine, brakes firm. No squeaks or rattles, plenty of power makes this eldo a fun cruiser with a unique body style. Inspections welcome, any questions? Please ask, thanks..Offered at LOW reserve, highest bidder wins it...
