I am relisting this vehicle on account of a non paying bidder. Individual clicked the buy it now with no intentions of buying and then claimed his cat stepped on the keyboard.
For sale is a 1976 Cadillac Mirage. My uncle passed away and his extensive private Cadillac collection is being liquidated. His passion was Cadillac and he spenthis life time searching for any unusual Cadillac item.
We have recently listed this vehicle on eBay with a $16,500 reserve. The ending bids came close to $16,000. We relisted it with a $15,500 buy it now which was not successful on account of above mentioned bidder. We have concluded that it is time to put emotional attachment aside and let it go. Auction is set with a no reserve price.
The Cadillac Mirage could be purchased through your local Cadillac dealer. You would first purchase a Cadillac DeVille and for approximately an additional $9000 have it upgraded to a high end El Camino. In 1975 and 1976 the dealer would send your new car to Traditional Coach Works, LTD, of Chatsworth, California. Web searches indicate that the Mirage was a Gene Winfield design and production numbers werein the ballpark of200. The production numbers and costs seem to vary on the internet and I have been unable to find conclusive numbers. I had afellow eBay member notify me that he had worked for Traditional CoachWorkswhile inhigh school.Hestated that "Jack Patrick designed the Mirage pickup and the Castilian Estate Wagon. Gene was in charge of the wagon line and Andre Destefanis was in charge of the pickup line".
Note: These cars are notto be confused with a flower car associated with a funeral procession, but were intended as a high end pick up truck for the wealthy.
This car runs and drives very well and is a very nice representation of a Cadillac Mirage. It is a real head turner and does attract a lot of attention. Similar cars have recently sold at Barret-Jackson in the $40,000 range. I realise this is not a high end Barret-Jackson show car, however $10,000 is a lot less than $40,000
I feel compelled to inform you that there are a few areas that could use some attention and are documented in the photographs. I have not tried to cover any flaws and would like to be as forthright as possible in their description. It appears that moisture leaked around the bottom of the right rear quarter window and has caused some blistering under the vinyl and below that window and above the winshield. My opinion is the vinyl could be pealed back and the necessary repairs performed as needed and the vinyl reattached. In my opinion the attached photo looks worse than it does in person. The plastic trim filler around the tail lights will also have to be repaired. Inside the aft part of the pick up box there is a spare tire storage cover. The steel cover could use a little attention to bring it back to its original appearance and to blend it in with rest of the bed. The engine compartment will benefit from a good cleaning and detailing. The weather strip around the drivers window is tore and there is a crack in the dash pad above the center vent. In my opinion these repairs could be performed for a reasonable expense. The end result is the new owner will have a very nice automobile.
Car has recently received a full service and $450 spent on having the bearings replaced in the rear axle last week.
This is a car that I would love to call my own but space restraints and too many vehicles prevent it. Once again I have tried to describe all the faults to the best of my ability. I would also encourage anyone to personally come view the car or arrange a representative to come inspect it as needed. If you have any further question please don't hesitate to call 253-381-4451. Car is located in Tacoma, WA 98445. Payments must be in cash or payment cleared prior to pick up of vehicle.
Below are links associated with theCadillac Miragefor your perusal. This exact car was photographed along side a 2002 Cadillac Escallade EXT for a Car and Driver magazine write up. Also included are some links to Cadillac Mirages that have recently sold at auction. These car values have really risen over the last 10 years and their value is really beginning to be appreciated.
