1984 Cadillac Eldorado Additional Info:
Black/Black 1984 Cadillac Eldorado
No Vinyl Roof
The ideal buyer of this particular Cadillac is someone who is attracted to the facts that this is a very original and one-previous owner car, that it is and was originally ordered as Black with a Black leather interior, and that it is a vinyl-delete aka ‘slicktop’ Eldorado.
In 1984, this Cadillac was bought new at Hillcrest Cadillac in Beverly Hills, CA. The owner and vehicle resided there for a few years before he retired outside of Palm Springs, CA where he lived the rest of his life, passing away last year. This vehicle had one owner that entire time and he drove it just over 53,000 miles. His daughter inherited the car and put it in her garage as a keepsake of her Father, his having owned it over 30 years. I bought it from her with the intention of sprucing it up a bit and adding it to my collection. I have elected to put my efforts into other endeavors which is why it is being offered, now.
Having spent it's entire life in California, there are no rust nor moisture issues. I haven't had a chance to clean under the hood but it's actually dusty, from being in that particular environment. The interior carries the car and is nothing short of exemplary. Being in California, and also garage kept it's entire life, means no excess moisture and the issues that go with that.

Drives terrific - wonderful Cadillac ride with no issues. This is my first experience with an HT4100 - or at-least since I drove them in the 1980’s some 30-odd years ago, and for all of the disparage I’ve read online over the years about performance as well as quality, I found this V-8 to be adequate on power. Are you really going to be hot-rodding around in this car? It moves out just fine. And the main quality issues with the HT4100 were in 1982 and 1983. By 1984 they were sorted out, and if there was a problem it would have been addressed on this Cadillac by now. Runs smooth, doesn't smoke.
Really a nice Cadillac ride.
Exterior is a great 15-footer with nice shine in the sides. Get up-close and you can see checking in the horizontal surfaces, and evidence of a repaint at some point in it’s life.
- Bumpers are terrific
- Grill looks very good
- Lower stainless is excellent
- Trim around the windows is average, some light pitting can be viewed
- Mirror glass is good but the aluminum cases have some wear
- Taillights are good - not cracked but could use a fresh coat of clear
- Hood struts need to be replaced
- All of the plastic filler panels should be replaced. If you come to pick the vehicle up locally, Plastic Parts Inc in the next town over makes some of the best filler panels available for this car anywhere. Read about it By Clicking Here
Be clear on this: You could drive this car as-is and have alot of fun. Or a perfectionist would repaint (at least the hood, roof, and trunk) plus sort out the few items not functioning, and have a really outstanding Eldorado.
There’s something very special about a Cadillac in Black - especially Black on Black. From Johnny Cash to Elvis - the mystique of a Black Cadillac is a folklore that has been embodied in music and other facets of our car culture. And if you’re like me then you really appreciate the clean lines when luxury cars do not have a vinyl top. So from being Black/Black, to no vinyl, to the originality - this one is really a special and rare Eldorado.
I’ve priced it right for what it is. Please no low-ball offers and I really don’t want to hear about ‘comparables’ since I know you’re not comparing it based on the special traits that I’ve discussed. Don't worry about taking it off my hands; If it doesn't sell then I'll keep it and perhaps reconsider; thankfully I've got plenty of garage space.
Thank-you for your interest.
