This truly fabulous Caddy is the classic of the upscale cars – you practically expect to see a uniformed driver at the wheel with Ms. Daisy in the back. Heavily optioned, mechanically and cosmetically solid, ready to cruise and enjoy, but also with afew tasks left to bring it to perfection so you can make it truly your car.
And best of all a solid, practically rust-free California car.
This car will keep you cool as a cucumber in hot, sunny weather. In the evening, drop all the windows for a cruise to the drive-in – Voila! You’ve got the ideal machine for summer cruising!
Cadillac dramatically reworked its model lineup for the 1959 model year. This Series 62 received a toothier grille, a dummy grille across the tail, bright window surrounds, and a trim spear along the side. Most famously, a gargantuan fin topped each rear fender, with taillights on each side. The 62s also had rear fender skirts. The four-window sedans were known as “flattops” with a rear drip-rail and wraparound rear window. Series 62s were the most affordable Cadillac at $4,800 to $5,400, and the model was a sales leader for the division at nearly 71,000.
General Description and Special Feature
The Cadillac 390-cid V-8 developed 325 horsepower, Hydra-Matic transmission was standard, and most of the accessories now taken for granted on Cadillacs were offered by this time: power steering, windows, brakes, and seats, as well as air conditioning
This car has new paint on the outside with a beautiful brand new interior inside along with dash.
I have many, many more photos than eBay would permit. If you are truly interested in the vehicle, please email me before you make a bid and I will send you all of them. I want anyone who bids to be fully informed. I will answer any question you ask as quickly and truthfully as I can.
Mechanical Condition
The car runs very well. It runs and stops as it should, steers and tracks nicely. I do not detect any cooling system problems. The carburetor was recently partially rebuilt. The brake lights and turn signals and lights work as they should, and the horn works too (but is a bit weak). The car will need a new sending unit. The radio currently is not working as well and the antenna is missing.
Cosmetic Condition
Exterior. The body is rust-free and virtually dent-free as well. The fresh black paint job is fairly new and looks great. All chrome pieces are with the car, though not all have been attached. As the photos of parts show, there is some assembly required. For example, the car is missing the windshield wipers.
Interior. The new interior is new and looks incredible. There is even a newly installed dash top It is in great shape and the inside of the car looks all around great!
Tires. The tires, featuring wide whitewalls, are in good condition and have many miles left.
Conditions Of Sale
The car is sold AS IS. The car runs very well and is about 65%-75% finished. We do not contend the car is in show condition nor finished. It is a good driver car with work left to do, but most major (i.e., expensive) things have been done. We believe, but do not guarantee, all the parts needed to finish up the trim and details are included. Interested persons may inspect the car in person by appointment (it is located in Portola, CA, about a 45 minute drive from Reno, NV).
A ten-percent non-refundable deposit must be paid via PayPal within 48 hours of the closing of the auction, otherwise the car will be offered as a Second Chance to the next highest bidder. The balance in full is due by PayPal, certified funds, or wire transfer within seven days of the end of the auction. This is not an auction for an appointment to see the car and then decide if you wish to purchase it; it is an auction to purchase the car. Deposits will not be refunded, and failure to complete the transaction will result in notice to eBay.
