Here's your opportunity to buy a solid, mostly original Eldorado that needs an engine.

This poor car was featured on Bring a Trailer just a few weeks ago (for $10k), and found a new home in Colorado. Unfortunately, 30 minutes into the journey with the new owner, something catastrophic happened within the 8.2 liter engine. What happened? Well, I can't be sure since I wasn't there, but the evidence points to a likely engine overspeed situation (the 500 isn't what you would call a high revving engine in factory form) which caused the pistons to try and swap places with one another.

So, here we are. Below, I've described the Eldorado as thoroughly as I can, but feel free to text/call if you have additional questions: 512.653.0773

The engine is likely a boat anchor. Just assume that you'll need to find another engine and then hope that you'll be pleasantly surprised by damage that isn't as bad as I think it is. I've heard it run three times since the incident, but unfortunately the engine will no longer start (the 200ft trip from my driveway to the cul-de-sac and back for the pictures proved to be its last journey). When it did run, it had a terrible knock and very little power. As for the other mechanical aspects of the car, the brakes are in excellent working order, the transmission shifts well and doesn't leak, the half shafts are tight and rubber boots are intact, the steering is tight and accurate, and and the tires are brand new (less than 1,000 miles).

This is a mostly original paint car, and though it's not perfect, it's a gorgeous car to look at even at five feet away. The original pin striping is thin in spots, but still presents well. There is zero rust through anywhere on the car and the panels do not show any sign of any previous accidents. Doors, hood, and trunk align well and are easy to open and close. All of the windows are crack free and the two door windows go up and down fine.

The interior is mostly original from what I can tell, and is in good shape. The seat leather is soft and shows only minimal wear. Headliner is in perfect as are the visors. Dashpad is nearly perfect with no cracks. All ventilation controls work as they should -- the heat was hot, and the A/C was cold (recently completely rebuilt and converted to R134). Most everything else also seems to work (wipers + washer, turn signals, dimmer switch, interior lights, seatbelts, radio), including the dumb-shit seatbelt/door buzzer. The clock does not work. Rubber floormats are perfect (though I never put my feet on them because they're white and will instantly show dirt).
