1955 Buick Super Riviera 2d Ht
Solid California survivor.
This is a fullsize Buick Super Riviera model 56R, a 6 passenger car with a stretched out 127 “ wheel base, and 236 hp 322 cui Nailhead engine. The car only has 3 previous owners and has been in California it’s whole life. The previous owner only used it a few times a year the past 10 years and the car has mainly been stored inside during that time.
It is all original and untouched with the exception of a minor damage repair on the rear of the passenger side quarter panel done many years ago. It still has the original interior. The plastic cover is actually still on the back seat and I recently peeled it off to take a picture The fabric is still intact and in good condition!! It has the original carpet, tough in a frail condition.
The front seat is worn, but is still usable and has cushion. The door panels and headliner is still stock, and in good shape. The chrome is in ok condition, with some pitting and surface rust. No rust holes in the bumpers, grille or other chrome pieces. It is a complete car, and is only missing some minor emblems. The glass is intact and I can not find any cracks, chips or other damage.
This is a low mileage car. The 322 cui engine runs very great and smooth, no leaks or rattles. I suspect it has been rebuilt recently. The Dynaflow transmission shifts very smooth and effortless. Old receipts show it was rebuilt around 2006. The car has Power steering and Power breaks that works and the Buick really is a pleasure to drive.
The body appears rust free, and is really straight. No rust in the floor pans, or trunk area. Minor rust in one of the hood corners. The hood has minor cracks on a few places by the hinges, but is repairable. The doors shut and close with ease, and all windows roll up and down.
The dash is unmolested, and the gauges work. Most of the lights work, but the wiring should be gone thru. Nothing has been cut or modified as far as I can tell. The car runs great on the streets, but I would recommend checking the brakes and all other safety aspects on the car since it has been sitting for a while, before driving it daily. It has new shock absorbers and exhaustsystem.
This 1955 Buick Riviera has the attractive big body and is the very beautiful sought after HT version. A great car to restore, customize or just simply use the way it is with it’s attractive California patina. It has of course the original California black plates.
I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if a local offer is presented to me.
