This is a fine example of a custom 1968 Buick Riviera. This build started with a very clean original car, not a scrapyard reject. It rides smooth, runs strong, and turns heads... everything you want your classic to do. The car comes with many of the original parts including the air cleaner cover and most of the trim. Also included are manuals and lots of information on the build and what was put into it. And YES, the headlights work great!
The car is only being sold due to a death in the family, no other reason.
I am more than happy to answer any questions and can also take photos of any areas not included, within reason. The car was recently appraised by Rick's Old Car Appraisal, the results of which are below. Please don't ask "what's your bottom dollar?" SUMMARY STATEMENT:It was a pleasure to view this 1968 Buick Riviera. The car features several custom touches, including shaved door handles, hand-fabricated metal side skirts, a custom center console, and a conversion from a bench to bucket seats. The body remains rust-free, with only minor door dings and slight bodywork waves visible upon close inspection. The paint, while done on a budget, turned out well – though it does show minor imperfections such as light sanding scratches, orange peel, and some shrinkage in isolated areas. A professional wet sand and buff would elevate the finish considerably.
Inside, the interior presents in excellent condition, is clean and well-assembled. The upholstery and carpet were replaced during the restoration. Minor wear is visible on the driver's side door panel, and there's a small seam separation in the headliner, but neither detracts significantly from the overall presentation. The trunk is fully carpeted, with custom carpeting on the underside of the deck lid –highlighting the thoughtful details found throughout the build.
Mechanically, the Riviera remains stock and is still powered by its original 430ci V8 engine. The engine runs well, and the car is mechanically sound. The engine bay is clean and fully painted, with the factory A/C system still intact—another sign of the careful preservation work done over the years. The chassis is rust-free, restored, and shows only minor road grime from light use.
The glass and trim are both in very good condition. A small chip is present in the windshield, along with some discoloration at the edges, but all glass remains presentable. The trim is straight and clean, with light pitting noted on the rear bumper. The wheels are in very good condition with no curb rash, though the center caps show minor corrosion at the edges. The tires show good tread but are dated from 2008 and should be replaced due to age. The vinyl top was replaced during the restoration and remains in excellent shape, with no bubbling, tears, or discoloration.
In summary, this 1968 Buick Riviera is a well-preserved, tastefully customized example of one of GM's most iconic late-'60s luxury coupes. With its sleek fastback styling, strong factory drivetrain, and thoughtful modifications, this Riviera blends originality with personal craftsmanship. Second-generation Rivieras continue to enjoy strong interest in the collector and custom car markets alike.
