Restored Authentic GS Stage 1 455ci V8 Automatic Air Conditioning ///
The 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 represents the point where Buick's trademark refinement met raw American muscle. Built in Flint during March of 1970, this car combines luxury, performance, and authenticity in a way few others from the era can match. Sold new at Troy E. Fairchild Buick-Cadillac in Ashland, Kentucky, it retains its factory colors of Burgundy Mist with a white painted top and Pearl White interior. Originally purchased new by the current owner's father, it remained with the family for several years before being traded back through the same dealership in the early 1970s. Decades later, it was located through a Buick enthusiast network and brought back into the family, where it underwent careful restoration and preservation. The exterior remains straight and clean, complemented by bright trim, dual hood scoops, and a functional hood tach that carries a personal story. Inspired by the GTO Judge, the car's original owner purchased a Pontiac unit locally, had it painted to match, and installed it shortly after delivery, years before the GSX debuted. Fifteen-inch Buick Rallye wheels complete the confident, period-correct stance. Power comes from a Buick 455 Stage 1 V8 installed during the 1980s using a genuine new old stock service replacement block, paired with what appears to be its original Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission and 3.42 Positraction rear. Inside, the cabin features its original Pearl White bench seat layout with black dash, woodgrain accents, and correct factory equipment. Documentation includes the window sticker, dealer invoice, build sheet, and ownership records verifying its authenticity as a true GS Stage 1. Beautifully finished and properly maintained, this car embodies Buick's golden-age formula of power with poise and stands as one of the most refined interpretations of classic American performance.
