1988 Reatta Classic
Bought new. Only one owner. 90,500 miles. Includes full documentation, service history and a detailed repair manual.
Radio repaired to fix pops that developed in most Reatta radios. Disconnected tape player and substituted space for included portable Garmin GPS unit. Added luggage rack, better windshield sprayers, Kleenex holder, 12-volt connection outlets, sun glasses holder, side pockets, sun film on windows, cup holders and a battery shut off to keep the battery fresh if the vehicle is not to be used for a while.
Professionally repainted with Lexus "Opal Frost" limited edition paint.
Runs really well but the new owner should continue to use 10W50 high mileage oil to maintain adequate oil pressure. New gaskets for oil pan and oil screen included if desired to remove and examine if oil sump needs cleaning.
The vehicle has the following troubles. None seem serious.
The passenger window seals tightly but opens only 5 inches. It needs a new regulator motor that is easily found but difficult to install.
The fuel level sensor does not work properly. This is not a problem if mileage is tracked from the last fill up. The car actually does this if the reset button is pushed when tank is filled. A working fuel level sensor is hard to find and difficult to install.
There are some not very visible paint blemishes on the hood and headlight covers. Repainting only the hood and headlight covers would make the entire vehicle look brand new.
The interior lights dimmer switch does not work so the few manual buttons are not lit and are hard to see at night. Turning on one of the lights under the mirror will help. Most functions are controlled by touching the buttons on the CRT screen and that is always illuminated.
The parking lights button sometimes sticks on, but repeated hits gets it to shut off. No need to use this button as the parking lights come on with the headlight switch and that works fine.
Both interior plastic moldings on the pillars between door and rear windows were broken by thieves unsuccessfully trying to break into car.
The film on the driver’s window has fogged and should be replaced.
