1962 Buick LeSabre Additional Info:

Hi and Thanks for Looking.

I have for sale a 1962 Buick LeSabre 2-Door Hardtop. It currently has 96,866 (believed to be actual) miles. a 401 Cubic Inch 8-Cylinder Engine and a2-speed Dynaflow Automatic Transmission.

Buick produced 25,479 of the of the 2-Door Hardtops in 1962. I purchased this vehicle 2 years ago from an estate in St Joseph Missouri. I have at least part (last 20 years) of the history on this car documented in a 3-ring binder along with receipts of everything I have done to the car since I’ve owned it. I did a lot of work to this Buick, to get it back on the road and dependable. I will highlight some of the major items for you.

The car sat for a long time in dry storage, so the first thing I did was drain/clean the fuel tank, install new fuel lines, and a new fuel pump. Once I got it running again, I could not get the Rochester Carb tuned properly, so I purchased and installed a new Holley Street Avenger with Electric Choke. Excellent right out of the box..!!I do have the Rochester and all of the other stock parts I removed which will go with the car as well.

After that, I installed a Pertronix HEI Conversion kit, New Plugs, Wires, Cap and Rotor. The original generator on the car was randomly not charging, so I purchased a Powermaster Alternator which looks identical to the original generator and fits the stock mounting bracket perfectly.I also changed out the Belts, Radiator Hoses and Heater Hoses, Vacuum Lines and installed new Valve Cover Gaskets.

The Transmission fluid was full and looked clean, but I drained it, removed the pan and cleaned the screen. The Transmission has absolutely no issues whatsoever.

The brakes on the car were barely working at best. I installed new shoes and wheel cylinders on all four corners, and changed out all 3 of the Soft Rubber Lines, Flushed and Cleaned the Master Cylinder, Repacked the Wheel Bearings,…..You know the routine. I had the front drums turned, and purchased new drums for the rear. The brakes work fine now, and are as good as drum brakes ever get.

Once I got it running and back on the road, I installed a Bosch Tachometer and set of Triple Gauges so I could monitor everything. I installed a new water pump as the old one started leaking, and changed the thermostat. I also purchased a new Champion Aluminum Radiator and added an Electric Cooling Pusher Fan. The car runs consistentlyin the 180-195 Deg Range. The Heater Core started leaking late last fall. I have not located a replacement at this time, but I do not drive the car in the winter so it really wasn't a priority for me.

I bought a new set of Cooper Cobra Tires and American Racing Torque Thrust Wheels and new Shocks on all four corners. I took it in to have the front end aligned. While in the shop, they also changed out the Lower Ball Joints and Installed new Sway-Bar Bushings and End Links. The car really does drive great now and the Power Steering works Excellent (See the driving video link below)

The last major item I replaced was the Exhaust. I had a complete new Exhaust System Installed Front to Back with a new set of Turbo Mufflers last summer. That really woke the car up and it sounds Amazing..!!

The paint is not perfect, but shines up nicely. I was told it has had one repaint in the last 15 years. There is some filler and bubbling in the usual Buick places (Lower rear Drivers quarter, Lower Drivers Door and Lower Front Drivers Fender) as shown in the pictures, but the car still presents very well. Every Buick of this era has rust in the same locations, but these were daily drivers back then. The Floor Pans and the Trunk Pan are Very Solid.

The window glass is original to the car. All 4 windows roll up and down just fine and all of the glass is good. The front windshield does have a light wiper scratch in it on the drivers side.

The Interior is original to the car. It’s still in very good condition. The Seats, Door Panels, Headliner, Sun Visors and Carpet…all in great shape for its age.

The chrome bumpers and Stainless trim are all in good condition and showing what I would consider normal wear.

All of the Lights,Signals, Stop and Tail Lights work as well as the Gauges including the Fuel Gauge, and the Original AM Radio (See Video).

I have the original owner’s manuals and a shop manual for the car, as well as the original GM keysand 1 extra complete set.

The car is currently tagged and insured, and I have a Clean/Clear Kansas Title in my name.I am willing and available to work with your shipper if necessary and welcome anyone to come and see/inspect the car in person.

I know I'm gonna get a lot of questions so here’s the deal…The car is 62 years old. It's not a “show car” by any means, which is why it's not $30K, but it is an honest and mostly original survivor. I truly love driving this car and It’s as loyal as they come. I would drive this car anywhere and not be worried about it. Why am I selling it??….Let’s just say life happens sometimes and leave it at that.

Check my feedback and bid with confidence. I am willing to entertain cash offers, but please be reasonable. Also, I have posted links below to the YouTube videos I have taken of the car and driving it around town. Contact me with any other questions, or to set up a time to view the car in person.
