1956 Buick Century Riviera Additional Info:
1956 Buick Century 4 door Riviera. This is the one featured in the video below is fully function, it is licenced, insured, plated and can be driven daily. I have owned this car for nearly 50 years, and it was my daily driver for 25 years. The engine has had hard seats put in so the valves won't fail with today's lead free gasoline. The engine has been boiled, balanced and line bored. It was bored 30 over, crank is 10-10, cam reground to original specs, all new valves, pistons, rings, lifters, rockers, oil pump, cam chain, bearings, lifters rockers...the works!! It has about 3 hours of runtime. In today's money this would cost about $12,000.00. It has a new gas tank and electric fuel pump. All lights work as well as the rebuilt starter, generator, regulator, and new battery. The transmission was professionally rebuilt...(todays money about $4,500.00). The entire front end has been replaced...tie rod ends, king pins, sway bar, inner and outer A-arm bushings, 4 new brake drums and shoes, no leaks in the power steering system. Drives straight and the brakes are as good as new. All new exhaust, mufflers and pipes. New 4 core radiator, new heater core and control valve. All of this mechanical work was done about 25 years ago...It was stored indoors for all that time, and just recently filled with fluids, and put back into service for this sale. Fresh oil pan gasket, and carburetor rebuild...(transmission kickdown seal is leaking...see photo) Rubber is 80%, 30 years old, and holds air.
All of the interior parts are present, most not installed... as the interior guy died before completion. It has a new tinted, and shaded windshield. The front seat is 90% done with custom dyed leather and cloths. There is a complete set of custom dyed floor carpeting, door panel fabrics, and felt. Comes with both working push button, and wonder-bar radios, and rebuilt speedo. There is a box full of new felts, door and window seals, and glides in the trunk, as well as various spare parts. All of the door handles, locks and linkage is inplace and working fine.
The exterior has NO BONDO, rust or dents!! All the doors and fenders that had an issue were replaced with original Colorado rust, and dent free pieces before it was sanded and painted. It has a $7,000.00 Emron Color sanded paint job, and the clear coat has since turned milky and is peeling off. Under the clear coat it still looks like a mirror...When it was fresh it looked like a RR with no orange peel, as each coat was sanded smooth. I do not know if the finish can be fixed...but under the paint is pristine sheet metal. No rust in the floor anywhere, as it was sold in Denver and has been in the area its entire life.
I had all the chrome redone and the stainless buffed out. The re-chrome was done by Action plating in Denver and except for the pot metal and stainless it was a very bad job. ($3,500.00) Everything is there but it is rusting in areas...even though it was stored inside. However one of the parts cars, that come with this sale has very nice original chrome...see photos.
This auction also includes 3 parts cars. First parts car is complete and has an assembled interior, and very good original chrome. Second one is chopped up, but has more parts. and finally the third one is a 2 door convertible!!! All of the running gear from the the running car could be transferred to the convertible.
Here is a new video of it running and stopping...https://youtu.be/KDayuzosbOs
