In 1963 Buick introduced the Riviera, a top of the line sporty car for Buicks most affluent clients. Offered with a lot of luxury features that were standard including power windows, two speed wipers with washers, backup lights, glare proof inside mirror, safety buzzer, Riviera wheel covers, electric clock, padded dash, center console and more. The Riviera name was already associated with the company and known since the introduction of the hardtop in 1949. Unlike most of GMs other models, most of the Rivieras major mechanical and body components were not shared with any other GM cars making it very unique. Not only is the Riviera a luxury car, but it is a muscle car at heart. 2,122 1964 Rivieras were built with the very rare optional and powerful "Super Wildcat" V-8 engine with two 4 barrel carburetors, finned aluminum valve covers and chrome air cleaner producing 360 horsepower at 4400 rpm. Some erroneously believe Rivieras equipped with the super wildcat engine are Gran Sport models, but this is not so. The Gran Sport option was not available until 1965 making the 1964 Super Wildcat equipped cars even more special.
THIS1964 Buick Riviera "Super Wildcat" is an outstanding original example of one of Buick's most recognized and most sought after models and this example represents one of the exclusive Rivieras with the 4x2 carburetor setup. An extremely well preserved original car with just 36,000 original miles from new and all original condition. Still wearing its factory original Desert Beige paint, original matching color interior and original chrome. This car even retains its very seldom seen original 1964 Riviera hubcaps which are usually missing. The engine and transmission run, drive and shift wonderfully and as they should. Also complete with its original window sticker which documents all of its options including the "Super Wildcat" engine and the dual 4 barrel carburetor setup. This is one of the best examples of a Riviera in existence. Contact us for more information.
