We purchased this fantastic ‘89 Riviera out of Barrington, Illinois, where the car had... resided since new. We purchased the car from the original owner, and he kept it in impressive shape through the years. While the car has just over 100k miles from new, it presents more like a car with half those miles. This car is a real pleasure to drive, with excellent ride quality and a very comfortable interior, and is in need of nothing other than a new owner who will use and enjoy it. Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up, though there are few. Blemishes include a few touched-up chips, a scratch on the taillight lens, and a couple dings in the mid-line trim on the passenger side. - This car still retains its original paint and it presents extremely well, with no significant signs of age. Pearlescent Diamond White is a great color for the car, and looks just right against the blue leather. Original dark blue pinstripe, matching the interior, is a nice touch. - Panel fitment is spot on, and the doors open and close nice and smoothly. All panels still have their VIN stickers on them. A very dry, honest example that has never been wrecked or disassembled. - Body is bone dry, with no bubbling or blistering to be found. This car has been garage-kept and responsibly owned and it shows. Polished surfaces are all in excellent shape. Mirror-like finish. No oxidation on the bumpers or trim. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Lights and signals are all functional. - White vinyl top is in great shape. No significant signs of age to note. Free of any damage or discoloring. - Steel wheels with polished hubcaps are very nice, with no curb rash or wrinkles. Bridgestone tires are close to new; the DOT number indicates they were manufactured in 2017. Interior: - The cabin of this car is a great place to be. The blue leather with suede accents is soft and well-preserved, and the color is just fantastic. Seats are in impressive shape, with no punctures or damage. Interior wear is limited to crease lines on the seat bottoms, a couple stains on the rear floor carpet, and a small crack in the driver’s door arm rest. Door panels are free of any kicked-open markings. - Dash wood is free of hairline cracks, which is great to see. Dash top is totally mint, with no cracks or warping. Carpet is very nice up front, with great color and no fraying or discoloring. Factory floormats are excellent as well. - Radio is functional. Fan/heat/climate control is functional, though the air conditioning is not currently cold. The compressor does kick on, and the on-board system check tells us that the refrigerant level is low. Should just need refrigerant, but we haven’t leak-down tested the system and cannot guarantee the charge will hold for an extended period of time. Headliner is in good shape, but is starting to loosen a little bit in the rear corners. Mechanical / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car looks good underneath, especially considering it has been in Illinois since new. This car received the “extra protection package” at the dealer when new, according to the original window sticker, at a seemingly huge cost of $3k at the time. The undercoating has definitely served its purpose; structural underbody components are all in great shape. - The car runs and drives beautifully. Truly no tendencies or noises of concern. It starts right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls smoothly through the gears, shifts quietly and on-time, and the ride quality is outstanding. No shakes, rattles, pulling under acceleration/braking, wandering at speed, etc. An extremely comfortable, well-sorted, confidence-inspiring driver.
