1975 Buick Riviera
Designed by renowned General Motors icon, Bill Mitchell, the Buick Riviera was introduced in 1963 to rave reviews from automobile enthusiasts around the world. The completely new model was directed squarely at the Ford Thunderbird of the era, but with more performance, power and luxury than its competitor.
For consignment a resprayed 1975 4EZ model that has only been in the hands of 2 owners. As you will see it has always been garaged and presents very nicely with a few bumps and bruises. Only 49,000 original miles and consigner states everything works on the car including the A/C.
Exterior
The beneficiary of an early color matching Light Blue respray, that still holds well, this car only sees rust under the trunk lid lip. All else is fine and dandy on that front, and chrome is excellent, with few faults like pitting and some fading. A new color matching vinyl top has been installed with the earlier respray, and has a large opera window, and a nicely raked almost fastback rear window that melds seamlessly into a rounded off trunk. In contrast, the front of the car is all squared off design, with dual headlights, front grille, large and in charge bumper (very nice), and a massive long front hood. Sport rally style wheel covers are wrapped by sporty raised white lettered Cooper Discover H/T radials all around.
Interior
Door panels are a fine mixture of blue vinyl uppers with wood inlays, some chrome, a courtesy light, and lower carpeted panels. Turning our eye to the interior compartment, we are met with cloth buckets with vinyl bolsters, which are power controlled. A blue vinyl center armrest is flanked by these 2 large buckets, and behind is a full rear bench, also cloth and vinyl. The dash is all original, has blue padded vinyl showing a few cracks underneath the carpet upper dash which is protecting it above, some woodgrain panels, and aluminum gauge and warning light cluster with a factory radio, and "digital" ( rolling numbers wheel style mechanical clock). Blue carpeting in good condition covers the floors and has rubber floor mats above it. The headliner is nice and tight and darker blue contrast. A look to the trunk and it is original lined and clean with no floor rust noted.
Drivetrain
A large 7.5 liter (455ci) 90 degree V-8 in OHV configuration, a 7.9:1 compression ratio and puts out 205hp. It is topped with a single 4-barrel Rochester carburetor, and puts power to a 3-speed automatic transmission. Consigner states there is a small oil leak around the distributor shaft. Entire engine bay shows clean and shiny with a little dust and dirt around but nothing remarkable.
Undercarriage
Areas of very light surface rust are seen, but solid floor pans, toe kicks, under door area at rockers, and overall frame are noted. New rear coil springs have been installed. Consigner also states this car may possibly need tie rod/and or ball joint bushings.
An original with reproduction bumper fillers (a killer to keep in good condition on any mid 1970's car), pristine chrome, and original interior. Low mileage, and 2 dedicated caring owners who were adamant about garaging this car have left us with a nice example which you will have trouble finding nicer, of the '75 Riviera.
