1930 Buick Rumble Seat Roadster Additional Info:
1930 Buick Series 40 Rumble Seat Roadster. True barn find, has been in inside dry storage for at least the last 40 years and likely more. With only about 3,600 of these cars ever produced and VERY few remaining, this is a very rare car, especially considering its well-protected and very original condition.
California car all of its life, completely solid and rust-free (with exception of minor surface rust on headlights and other plated items). Car was obtained from an older gentleman who was a Buick mechanic and understood the restoration potential of this car. All fluids have been flushed, oil pan was removed and cleaned. Car is super solid, runs, drives and stops well. The original six-cylinder overhead valve engine starts up easy doesn't smoke at all and idles smoothly, quietly and indefinitely. Transmission shifts easy as it should - although TO bearing occasionally seems a bit noisy (might be from lack of use?). All gauges work well (rare fuel gauge is included but not installed) and the car runs cool and with strong oil pressure. It's very original and may have much of its original paint. Seats are in vinyl and are in reasonably good shape. Doors and rumble seat compartment open and close as they should. Top frame is intact and appears complete. Most, if not all of the controls and components located in the steering wheel center are included but not installed. Windshield folds up and down as it should, although it has a single crack in it (it's straight glass and easy to replace). All wood is solid and there is no rust or rot whatsoever in this car's body or frame - in fact, the undercarriage of this car is not only rust free, it looks as if it's never seen bad weather in its entire life. Car is 99% complete and would be a very easy car to restore. Anyone who has seen these old cars knows that finding an 80 year old car in this condition is truly unique and special. Several boxes of the original parts which don't appear on the car, go with the sale. Don't let this rare find get away - you won't find another one like it. The Roadster is priced fairly being a true part of American motoring history. Remember that it's a Buick - closer to a Cadillac than it is to a Ford, Dodge or Chevy. We want this car to go to an appropriate and good home - buyer is responsible for pick-up and we will assist with shipping, including for international buyers. Please be encouraged to call Richard at (310) 871-8117 with any and all questions. Buyers with limited or poor feedback will be refused without calling before purchase. Winning bidder must provide $1,000 deposit within 48 hours. Seller reserves the right to cancel listing at any time as the car is available for sale locally in Culver City, CA and can be viewed there. Many thanks for your interest in the special vehicle!
