1948 Buick Roadmaster Series 70 Additional Info:

When your riding in a Buick Roadmaster, you know that you're riding in style. They were the biggest and most luxurious cars Buick built. This one has taken the best of the original body styling and modernized it by dropping it on a '73 Riviera chassis. The results are impressive. Check it out. Coming up with the name for this car must have been easy. Just look at it! From the side you can see the long sweeping lines of the "airfoil" front fenders that sweep all the way back to the rear ones. The rear fenders and the roofline cut a more curving shape as they bend down and blend into the rear bumper. A slash of chrome runs down the side starting at the top edge of the front door, above the door handle that has been removed in favor of door poppers, curving back and down to the bottom edge of the trunk which is underlined by a sharp looking chrome bumper. Up front, the hood tapers in and down in smooth lines meeting a chrome grill of vertical bars topped by chrome trim and underlined by chrome bumper. Flanking that grill are headlights perched way out on the front of the fenders that have been frenched in adding to that extra clean look. Open the door and you will find a custom interior done in Gray and trimmed in wood. The door panel has a cloth insert in the center with a nice armrest set in wood and billet window cranks and door pulls with a speaker mounted in the corner. Climb in and setting down on that comfortable, leather, split bench seat. There is a leather wrapped two spoke steering wheel mounted on a tilt column with a shifter for the automatic transmission and cruise control stalk. Custom digital gauges are mounted in sweet looking burled wood trim panels with the speedo and tachometer in the top spot and engine gauges for oil, water, voltage and fuel mounted just below it. The center wooden panel has the controls for the air conditionings as well as the vents, and it also has the head unit that is FM/CD and iPod compatible with the amps and CD changer mounted in the trunk. The passenger side continues the wood treatment with a clock in a pod that matches the speedo. Open the hood, and you will find a modern 455 V8 motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. A polished oval air filter flows down to an Edelbrock carburetor and feeds the big block engine that flows out through a true dual exhaust system with flow through mufflers. An HEI ignition system handles the spark and the power flows back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to a solid axle mounted on coil springs located by trailing arms. Using the chassis from a '73 Riviera offered the benefit of a control arm front suspension with a beefy sway bar, plus ventilated front disc brakes to inspire confidence while hauling this big car down from highway speeds in a hurry. The rubber meets the road through 235/60R15 tires mounted on True Spoke chrome center spin wire wheels. Ride, and arrive, in style with this classic 1948 Roadmaster with modern drivetrain and interior. Come on down and check it out.
