If you've been looking for a real deal GS, but are only finding Skylark clones, I'd strongly consider this car for investment purposes. This is a real deal car that I purchased from the original lady owner who lived in DRY West Texas. The car is very rust free and highly unmolested! The woman purchased the car new and drove it for a few years and parked it in her garage in1983. In 1988 her son wanted to get the car running again and swapped out the manifold and carb, and distributor. A Holley and a HEI were the parts of choice... and air cleaner, (originals are included) I purchased the car and intended on rebuilding the original carb and putting new seals on the air cleaner, the car was already a amazing driver, however...those items have been packed in the trunk and I never got around to it.
The good points about this car is first of all its a super dry accident and rust free car. One high quality repaint in the original Diplomat Blue due to sun fading, the paintisn't very old, and shows better than the pictures...about a $7,500 job on the paint andCordova Top...no rust issues to tendwith. The interior is all original and damned near immaculate, I believe the carpet was replaced at some point.
The chrome is excellent on the car and is all GM, noChinese junk here! The car has a load of factory options, including power steering, power disc brakes, TH-400 tranny, strato bucket seats, console, rear defogger, sport mirrors, ect.
Idon'tthink we need to touch on the body too much......there is no mud in this car...a rock solid example.
What I would do to the car, is just some weekend detailing. Rebuild the original carb, put the included 455 Ram Air Cleaner on withsome new foam, and some light detailing. The exhaust isserviceable but most of it is original to thecar, I'd consider doing that as well.
So, for about $1,000 you'd have yourself a excellent local show car with all the trimmings. The car is as honest as they get.
You also get the original GS Air CleanerOriginal 7040240 GS 455 carb...P/N from memory but original to carOriginal Cast Intake manifold.
