1953 Buick Series 40 Additional Info:
This might be a little long-winded but in an effort to disclose everything about this car I think it needs to be. This is a 1953 buick special. Last year of the "fireball" straight 8. 3 on the tree manual. It is a four-door and everybody wants to say "too many doors" but in all the car shows I've been to I've never seen another one. Everybody wanted the coups and those are the ones that survived. The four doors are rare. All new interior, new radiator, water pump and fuel pump.... other than that the car has been unmolested. It's a numbers matching car. Starts up every time no problem. Drives fine. I drive it 2-3 times a week. Previous owner told me the head was rebuilt and the valve seats hardened. So I have run regular gas with no lead additive since I've owned it with no issues. The only issues other than a bunch of little things that cars of this age will have are Dings and scratches here and there, nothing major. 1 rust spot on the passenger side that's not very bad (in the pictures), and some Rust spots in the driver and passenger floorboard, but patch panels were put in before carpet went down. Other than that the body is straight as an arrow. Runs great! At around 60 or 70 miles per hour the car is wound pretty tight . I keep it on surface street, I don't like keeping it at a high RPM like that for prolonged periods of time. I used to think something was wrong with the car until I started going to car shows and got on the forums where a lot of Old-Timers told me that's just the way those cars are geared. So it takes a little longer to get to where you're going but you'll enjoy the ride for sure. Has a small oil leak from the timing chain cover and when I say small I mean small. All electrical works except for the radio, it's a tube radio so it may work I just have never investigated it. All I know is it doesn't turn on. It has a cracked windshield..... $274 online, all of the Buick's, Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles of those years shared the same glass so it's not rare. Also has a crack the driver side window, I have two door windows that I will include with the sale. They are all the same size on every door. I just don't have the time to put it in. the clear coat is peeling and could use a paint job. It's a great 20-footer. Lots of extra parts as well. New white walls with less than 400 miles on them. I have the full shop manual too.
No reserve!!! Happy bidding!
