1956 Buick buick special Additional Info:
I am selling my 1956 buick special wagon. I honestly do not want to sell but am a firm believer that if if something isn't used enough...get rid of it. The drivetrain is a stock 322 nailhead with the dynaflow transmission. Very dependable, runs/drives just fine. The brakes could use a new set of shoes. Old buick brake systems were never great. Master cylinder was rebuilt last year. Everything is mostly original but generator was swapped for an alternator and it has an electric fuel pump. The 20" wheels/tires are off a 2010 Dodge Challenger. Original wheels/tires, hubcaps also included. Front and rear seats have been re-upholstered. Back seats flip forward to lay flat if needed. I installed an original 1960's surfboard rack on the roof and added two retro painted surfboards. The car is amazingly solid and almost rust free. The right rear door bottom has some bubbles on outside of skin and that side rocker cap has a couple. Other than that all door bottoms are solid. Floors/rockers/inner rockers in amazing shape. This vehicle originally starts by having the key switch in the on position and depressing the accelerator to the floor, triggering a solenoid switch on the starter. Well, that failed after the first year with this car so that is bypassed with a push/pull rod that presses contact points in the solenoid switch relay. This is in one of the pics/along with the rust bubbles. When I bought the car it had a severely faded paint job. We wet sanded it a bit to highlight the patina and urethane clearcoated it. This vehicle draws much attention wherever it goes and has taken us on many 6hr roadtrips. It's not easy to find these wagons and I know I probably won't find one again if I sell, but I just don't have the money to totally restore it. This is a very cool car but it is original and has flaws. The seals leak oil and tranny fluid. Windshield and right rear door glasses are cracked. Rear bumper chrome peeling. Interior is old/original. Gas guage doesn't work but all other guages do. Please contact me with any questions. Thanks, Chad. I also have a the 1956 buick shop manual that goes with it. I opoligize for the quality of pictures. They look great on my phone but after uploading them, they appear grainy in listing. Took some more, revised it, and same thing.
