Original unmolested " Top of the Line " GM Tail Finned 1950's Convertibles are among the rarest of the rare
and are rising to the top of the collector car world as unrestored cars are understood to possess qualities that
restored cars just dont & cant.
The: Look - Feel - Characteristics & Qualities of an excellent original unrestored car can not be overstated !
A wonderful original 59 Buick Top of the Line “ Dinosaur “ that will require a mechanical going through, to wake
this Tail Finned Giant from a 45 year hibernation along with some care & attention to details to easily make her
Really Grand Again, a Very Rare Opportunity to own such an excellent ORIGINAL ’59 !
· INTERIOR: BETTER THAN EXCELLENT ! The NICEST original interior I have seen on ANY 59 Electra 225 Convertible. Very minimal wear or aging, one seam does need to be restitched and the rear carpet was removed when put in storage as a precaution, but the rear carpet was lost over the years. In a word, I would describe this ORIGINAL interior as truly MAGNIFICENT ORIGINAL … That includes the Dashboard as well !
· BODY: Nice & Straight… The ONLY issue is: At some point someone tried to jack the car from the drivers side rocker panel… The rocker panel was pushed up a bit & you can see a tweak in the quarter panel but is contained to just the area above. In the hands of a good shop, you are talking less than a half day to make it right.
· PAINT: Appears to be mostly original with some touch up or blending in areas. The paint should be buffed outand some sections blended, overall the paint is very nice and the originality can very easily be saved and brought up to look excellent, no problem !
· CHROME: Window frames, Taillight bezels, Headlight bezels, Grille, Ornaments Etc… are Outstanding Original Some of the stainless & bumpers show some dings but are not a problem to easily remedy
· GLASS: Windsheild is MINT No Issues ( 3 side glasses have cracks )
· FLOORS, TRUNK & FRAME: SOLID & NO rust found
· TRUNK: Material was removed when stored as a precaution but was lost over the years
· ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Untouched & looks like 56,000 miles
· ITEMS MISSING: Drivers side rocker molding, spare tire & jack
The reason “ Survivor or Barn Find & Benchmark Cars “ are so amazing & in such high demand these days is actually quite simple:
Restored cars just simply N-E-V-E-R: LOOK – FEEL – SOUND – DRIVE – HANDLE the way an ORIGINAL car does … AND you never know how a restored car was “ cobbled “ together and then painted over to hide the massacre of most restorations …
With this beautiful Buick, you KNOW & can see the history, the care & quality that is strictlyinherent only in an ORIGINAL ! So many collectors around the world are unloading their restored cars & quietly buying the coveted O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L-S.
The true collectors of the world will tell you: Wheather they are called: SURVIVOR, BARN FIND or BENCHMARK cars ... the best & most expensive restorations will N-E-V-E-R be better than a great original !
The Beautiful Red Interior, Chrome, Windshield, Dashboard, Gauges, Convertible top, Weatherstripping etc... are a testament to the low miles & the benefit of not seeing the SUN in 45 years. Some care & attention can easily make this one of the inherently best 59's in existence !
( Imagine taking a time machine back to 1972 when this car was 13 years old and just being put into storage )
If you want to know what these " pinnacle of the 1950's " amazing automobiles were inherently R-E-A-L-L-Y like in '59, you just found the " needle in a haystack "
To better understand the Explosion of Interestin ORIGINALS & PATINA ... see the 1950 Buick Roadmaster Convertible on ebay recently. Ebay auction # 272898943018 ... Originals are the WAVE of the FUTURE in old car collecting
A very well preserved KING of 59 Buicks ... the Electra 225 convertible ! AND very likely the VERY LAST of the untouched original " 59 DINOSAURS " to be found in captivity !

A few Interesting 59 Buick Facts
· * 1959 Buicks had the biggest tail fins of ANY GM car ever built … the 1959 Cadillac had “ taller ” fins but the Cadillac fins were DWARFED by the huge square footage of the 59 Buick fins. The Cadillac fins blended into the quarter panel while the Buick fins were the upper half of the quarter panel and in essence ran all the way up to the vent window
· * Buick revived the ULTRA luxurious “ Limited “ series in 1958 … in 1959, Buicks received all new name plates … The Electra 225 was the new Limited series for 1959
· * It is NO coincidence that the 1958 Buick Limited has 15 Chevrons on the rear quarter panel … and the 1959 Electra 225 convertible has 15 Chevrons covering the front & rear interior panels !!
· * The ’59 Electra 225 was designed to go head to head with the ’59 Cadillac Eldorado. It was Buick’s design team that selected the name Electra 225, it is NO coincidence they chose the name ELectra to go against the ELdorado
* If you could blend a 1958 Buick Limited convertible with a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado convertible ... you would have the 1959 Buick Electra 225 convertible
· * it is believed the ORIGINAL owner of this car was Bob Hope, the Hollywood comedian & movie star. He was under contract with Buick in 1959 to perform advertising & promotional events … part of the contract included that he would be given for his use a NEW 1959 Electra 225 convertible. When he turned the Buick back into GM, it was purchased by a GM executive who then sold it to a friend in 1961 who loved the car so much, he kept it all these years. I can send you a "picture" taken of the GM Promotional photograph with Bob Hope posing & waving in the Buick ... just need your email address.
