1949 Buick Other Additional Info:
So this is a highly desired, one year only lovely black '49 Buick Super in running driving condition. Shiny black paint that looks nice from 10 feet but won't win Pebble Beach or whatever... but its very very nice looking none the less. Nice set of very low mileage Cocker wide white radial tires make this baby float! It tracks well down the road, has good pick up, and a classic 40's way of taming the road. Too much done to list but briefly, recent brakes, rebuilt generator, new fuel pump, rebuilt carb, master cylinder, front shocks (original type) replaced, new period look wires, plugs, fluids drained replaced, updated electronic ignition, the head was done last year, blower fan repaired (the one in the air inlet tube at the front passenger right near the grill - basically these never work but this car's does!) This has the original interior with seat cover on the front bench seating area only as that area needs to be redone. The bumpers front and rear have been rechromed. You know what that costs! It comes with some other parts too such as xtra rechromed door handles, lenses, gaskets and some other sundries I have in the garage, including the windshield washer bottle with the vacuum piece etc... just needs to be installed. This has sat for the better part of 5 years so I'm letting t go. Blinkers and lights work, brake lights work - new brake light switch, really its a pretty sweet car, very original, and what body work has been done looks nice as you really can't tell. The fender welting looks like new on the back fenders. The stainless is all there and in extra, extra nice condition. The lenses on the brake lights and the deck lid are very nice, as is that at the front of the hood below the iconic gunsight hood ornament. The dynaflow is super smooth, occasional drip in the most minimal way since the pan gasket was replaced last year (less than when I had a dynaflow rebuilt stem to stern on a 1951), and the engine does blow some smoke and seems to skip a bit at speed but I've driven it a nice 50 mile ride to the shore recently and it did fine. Obviously you will want your mechanic to go right through it (or you if you're that person with the know how) but this has never given me any problems to speak of and I used to drive it quite a bit to things like cruise nights and just for the pleasure of it. One vent window has a crack so you'll have to replace it at some point (though its really nothing - its been like that for years!) It's a very pretty car, its complete as far as I know and with some TLC from the right new owner this will make you proud!
Some of the pictures are old - for example the distributor cap is now different due to an updated ignition, and also the battery is new from last year and is the correct long thin type that belongs in this car. I can update photos in a while. The actual mileage is unknown. This will be sold w/ bill of sale as RI does not issue titles to older cars. Ask anything that comes to mind! I try to be prompt.
